Yeah, I never go to SSP... it's literally a flame war/penis-sizing arguement 24/7.

I don't think it should be compared with Houston or Dallas. Maybe Minneapolis and other metros of that size.

But other than that, I see why you all have came to SSP.

Well the Phoenix metro now has about a million more residents than Minneapolis. The reason people compared Phoenix-Houston-Dallas is because they have relatively similar land sizes and are car oriented.

Some of the delusional boosterism over at SSC is priceless. Some guy on there was making the argument that Chicago has warm water.

Last time I went swimming in Lake Michigan I thought I lost my #@$&...

SSC is good for one thing - the cityscapes/skylines threads... if you want picture threads of foreign cities, they beat the heck out of SSP. otherwise, yeah, bunch of children over there. it's like the skyscraper-UN, though, so what do you expect, really?

Wow that was a lot of bullshit about both Phoenix and Los Angeles. Both great cities but both very different... I've lived in Phoenix for 3 years.

That was an intereting snippet from another development nerd site. We have our moments too but that was like a high school football rally... Your team sucks wads and let me tell you somethin about yer sister!... I think we at least have a more mature approach generally, but we do have the occasional spat.

Well, with economy and world importance, Houston and Dallas (especially Houston) is on another scale in my opinion. I think for now, Phoenix is just in the middle from the cities like Charlotte, Austin, and Portland from cities like Houston, Atlanta, and Miami. I think Seattle and Minneapolis are in the same situation as Phoenix.

Word to the wise Trae, try and avoid turning this into a "world importance" bitchfest. I'll let you characterize your own city any way you see fit, but your post shows just how very little you know about Phoenix.

I didn't know that SSC existed. It almost looks identical to this website, but just a little different. It kind of reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when Elaine starts going to the other coffee shop (Reggie's) & hangs out with people that look alot like Jerry, George, & Kramer...but are polar opposites personality wise. I guess we could consider Skyscraper City to be the "Bizarro Skyscraper Page"

I can't be bothered. I'm trying to finish Neverwinter Nights 2 before my summer externship gets underway in earnest. So many things, so little time.

If the moderators allowed threads to become city vrs city threads here I'm certain we wouldn't look any better. In fact, judging from the vitriol on the NBA threads I'm sure we could actually make them look mature in comparison.

I am still posting on that thread, defending Phoenix.
Specially a guy from Miami he thinks Miami is the great city of the world.

They think that if a city don't have tall buildings is not a city.
maybe that I why I don't see you guys there.
I used see donb over there.

I have seen Denver, Salt Lake, LA and other western cities get ragged too.
I used to live in in the East coast so many year, and I never liked, now I am finally and Arizonan citizen.

Thanks guys for yours posts

wow, sounds like some real twats over on that thread

as for city and worldwide presence... I don't agree with what has been said
PHX SEA MPL.. are just as much a presence as Atlanta...
they both serve as reagional headquarters for many companies, as well as international headquarters.. Atlanta and houston are just on the east coast.. so they get more praise... so.. thats rubbish mate...this notion that nothing exists or is important out west until you get to california is a load of horse shit.. see u in 20 years ....
Phoenix is exploding... and don't count your chickens just yet.. your mum just might be planning to move to pheonix.....

thats all
