You mean the fact that the SF MSA in no way reflects the extent of SF's true metropolitan area? Yeah, that's annoying...the CSA is way more representative of the SF metro area (though maybe a little less than it used to be, now that Stockton is included in it).

Of course that brings up yet another annoying census rule in regards to San Francisco: the fact that San Jose is listed first, because it has more people within arbitrary city-limits...despite the fact that SJ is in no way the primary city of the (San Francisco) Bay Area, and has an MSA that's less than half as populous as SF's MSA. Seeing as a CSA is a collection of interconnected MSAs, Maybe it would make more sense for the census to list cities in a CSA by the most populous MSA, rather than the most populous municipality.
