Sure is. There's very little I care for about the Mormon lifestyle but they might be the only religious subgroup that can still build a beautiful church.

Definitely think this is starting very soon now -

The lot has been blocked off since last Monday morn, and then the drilling I witnessed on Tuesday. Can't wait.

Despite their questionable history.. The Mormons are good folks and it shows in what they build. I hope the new temple attracts more Mormon families to make a home here.

If this lot is still closed, I would assume they plan to get things moving shortly.

Mormons are great people. I have always had a great experiences being around Mormons. From experience, devout Mormons take ownership of their lives and constantly give to better society. The LDS Church will be a great benefit for Philadelphia.

As long as it is still closed off and empty, that is a good sign. If they reopen the parking lot, that means we'll have even more work to do.

I think what they were doing was test bores, which means we should see some equipment showing up in a couple of weeks.

I’m with everyone else here in feeling that filling these two lots (one down, one to go!) is just huge for that section of Center City. It’s going to completely change the feel of going down Vine Street and knit together either side of the neighborhood, at least visually.

That's exactly what I love so much about this (these) projects! The Vine Street Expressway is such a mental barrier, but it's not much of a physical one. From what I remember, Portland has a similar highway cutting through the city, but it's built up on both sides so it's barely noticeable. Once we get some Center City-style height on the north side of Vine Street, walking across the expressway won't be that mental barrier. Just imagine if Chinatown's Eastern tower is added to Vine Street as well! Maybe the development will finally encourage developers to take a look at the surface lots south of Vine between Broad and 11th. I'd love to see that street turn into a canyon of high-rises.

I was thinking the same thing. The 16 over 16 windows are amazing!

Mormon 32 story apt building

TOctober 23, 2014

Granite Going Up on the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple
With the exterior walls of the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple sealed, attachment of the granite cladding has begun. Workers will place stone along the bottom and move up. Construction on the high-rise apartment building is expected to begin next month.
This is from a Mormon newsletter article on the Philadelphia Temple project:

Didn't have time to take a pic (sorry), but definitely a lot more equipment and machinery on the apt tower site and a big pile of dirt.
