I'm just repeating everyone here but this building most definitely needs a spire for it to feel totally complete.

Nordstrom's NYC men's store will debut in 2018, ahead of Central Park Tower's opening
The Women’s Store at the base of Central Park Tower will open in late 2019

Before visitors get a chance to check out the massive Nordstrom flagship store at the base of Central Park Tower, they’ll be able to make a stop at the clothing chain’s Men’s Store, just a few steps away. Located at the base of 3 Columbus Circle, the Men’s Store will open next spring, a whole year and a half ahead of the Women’s Store, which will open in the fall of 2019.

Overall the Nordstrom flagship will span four properties: seven floors at Central Park Tower, one floor measuring 8,000 square feet at 5 Columbus Circle, four floors of retail at 1776 Broadway, and 43,000 square feet at 3 Columbus Circle.

While the interiors of Central Park Tower, 5 Columbus Circle, and 1776 Broadway will all be connected, the Men’s Store will stand separate from these properties. The latter will occupy the first three floors of 3 Columbus Circle, a 310-foot office building that was once the headquarters of General Motors Corporation.

Meanwhile over at Central Park Tower, the Nordstrom portion of New York City’s soon-to-be-tallest residential building was being fitted with its fluted glass facade a couple of months ago. That portion of the building was designed by James Carpenter Design Associates. The tower overall is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, and developer Extell is expected to launch sales on the building’s 179 condos in the second of this year.

I'm about 99% certain this diagram is showing the 1478' version based on the height relative to 432 Park Ave, so it will look significantly taller than this at 1550/1569'. Also note this shows the early, shorter version of Steinway at 1396'

Imagine this view when the tower is complete.

its very noticable now. i could definitely see it from the bronx/wash hts while walking across the high bridge a couple days ago.

i think the casuals will start to take some notice in about ten floors from now, so later this summer. of course once it starts nearing the top of the stern apt tower and moving past it everyone will notice.
