My parents own a recreational property in Kawartha Lakes in Eastern Ontario. These are a few photos taken there this past fall.

This is the Black River, which runs through their property.

This is the road which runs through their property on the way to Victoria Falls.

This trumpeter swan and its mate have been resident on a small lake on their property for the past two years; they had one baby swan this past year.

This isn't my photo, but I thought I'd include it here to show where the Black River runs over Victoria Falls.

Would that be in the zone known as "The Land Between"?

I've never actually heard that term before, but with a little research, it would definitely fall in the area.

It is not well known - I only became aware of it last year when I saw a very interesting documentary about the ecosystem of The Land Between. There must be a number of such transition zones in Canada, but I can't say I've ever heard much about any of them.

P.S. For those not familiar, The Land Between is a broad band that stretches from Georgian Bay to north of Kingston. It marks the transition zone between the Canadian Shield and the Great Lakes lowlands and has a unique ecosystem.

Nah, price of camera gear has nothing to do with it. One can take great captures even with camera phone.

I just enjoy more photos taken by our forumers than some random people on Flickr. No matter if those random photographers are professionals.

Agreed have seen some incredible shots taken with point and shoots. Life magazine or Kodak gave disposable cameras the a large nimber of profession photogs some years back. The shots were amazing.

Here's a pic I took on a holiday over 8 years ago with the first digital camera I had. The cheapest kind you could possibly buy. It would probably sell for well under $100 today.

The image is from Waterton Lakes National Park on the road to Red Rock Canyon. It's in the southwest corner of Alberta. Not my province but what the heck.

Sept.9 '07, my pic

Turning the clock back to September 2014, here are some photos from a hike up the three peaks of Mount Seymour. It's a fantastic nine kilometer round-trip that takes one approximately five hours.

Trail up is fairly steep and has lots of boulders.

There are some spectacular drops to check out.

First peak ahead!

Tri-Cities area of Lower Mainland (Eastern Metro Vancouver).

Mount Baker is an ever-present part of the local background.

Burnaby Mountain

Port Mann Bridge and Guildford area in Surrey. Note the huge Canadian flag.

The very hazy Downtown Vancouver. The weather gets hazy during summer.

Panorama from the first peak. Wish the sun would have been behind me, but what can you do.

Onwards towards the next peak!

View from the second peak. Indian Arm fjord peeking.

Better view of the Indian Arm.

Third and the highest peak.

Top of Mount Seymour (1,455 meters | 4,773 ft).

Hikers on first peak as seen from the third peak.

Mountains on fire. Mist evaporating after night's rain.

Grouse Mountain side.

The wild and vast North Shore Mountains backcountry.

Made it up there!

Backcountry panorama.

Mount Seymour ski lift top station. Long way back to car ahead of us.

There you have it. Yeah, I definitely recommend this hike.
