This is probably just the permit for one of them.
Yes, it is a permit for one of them. The other building got a demo permit a week or two ago I think. The original news stories had this at 2 parking spaces per unit, which given the type of units here does make sense. 3 seems a bit overkill on average unless they had someone under contract already with a sizable car collection and made more room for them - or the permit is wrong.

The PD calls for a total of 56 units and 84 spaces over both buildings. They simply called out all the spaces on this permit by mistake.

Ah, that makes sense. I still wish they had figured out a way to configure the ground floor to put at least one small restaurant/retail space on the Washington stretch...the May Street stretch isn't a big deal, but the Washington side is across from the McDonald's offices and could act as a nice escape valve for a more neighborhood oriented/casual restaurant, the type of thing that's probably been priced off of Randolph at this point.

^ I agree, that corner could have held a small cafe.

But more likely another ugly nail salon, dog groomer, or window-less immediate care/bikini waxing facility.

That close to a large office, more likely a Corner Bakery or a Roti.

The new Cook County outpatient building that is just south of the Stroger hospital had a small topping-out ceremony today (sorry, no picture). The 9-story building originally had a snazzy precast facade design, but that was VE'd out and this is the final design, for those that can't remember:

http://www.forumstudio.com/page/proj...=institutional

Still looks nice to me, but I kind of preferred the original, zig-zag precast design.

Anyone know what's going on here in front of Dearborn Station? Sorry if it's come up before. Lot's to keep track of lately!

Remember this thing that HarryC spotted atop the Apple Store?

There are four of them, one on each corner. They appear to be radiometers, temporarily up there (just held in place by sandbags) for some reason. My best guess was a futile attempt to frighten away the gulls. As you can see, the distribution of guano is not near the radiometers:

Wow, that's already quite the mess up there.

Well maybe 9 or 16 might work. They definitely need to do something about this. Though you'd need another keynote declaration by Phil Schiller to assure the birds don't mind, lest PETA protest iPhone 8 release day. (He could just reuse his mantra from last fall: "It comes down to one word: courage ...")

Sounds like a project for VEX Seriously what an opportunity to have HS kids compete to provide a solution to a real problem. Highly visible - tons of free PR.
