It's looking good, more so than I initially thought it would. And it's different than other buildings that we have.

It's also a good thing that the towers proposed to date have all looked a lot different from each other (aside from the ones that are phases/part of the same development, like the Connaught or King at Hughson). If the local market really takes off that could change but the variety is nice so far... or will be, depending on which ones go forward.

you know I sometimes wonder, with all of these condos going in, what do the tops of the buildings they are built beside look like? A lot of these rooftops could probably be utilized better now, whereas in the past nobody would ever see them..

like what does the roof of the lister block look like to those people whose windows are pretty much right on level with it?

Maybe with all the new height in the city there will be some upstart retrofit companies that specialize in Roofscaping.

Only problem is, who pays?

Why would existing building owners want to foot the cost of improving the view for their new neighbours?

Personally, I like views of the more utilitarian sides of buildings. It's an interesting part of the urban landscape, but I realize it's not for everyone. Can I ask, how old was the house you grew up in?

Other than the reality that much of the space on the roofs of modern and modernized buildings is taken up by essential utilities, I would love to see every flat roof in the city feature a roof deck, or at least a green roof with sedum and other hardy low vegetation or, better yet, gardens.

Climate friendly green roofing might be a good idea?

I guess it is about 40 years old by now...

and I would too

also make hamilton the new babylon- rooftop hanging gardens everywhere

Imagine having like 5 feet of soil on top of a roof with actual big trees, people look out to a forest instead of a rooftop.. I do believe that exists somewhere.. maybe it was new york..

I gotta say, this building is turning out better than the rendering. And as we all know, that rarely happens!

I love the curved crown being added. The glass and massing are better than was depicted in renderings. Very solid project here.

They've started laying the bricks on the Rebecca street facade! They have 4/5 masons working on it so I'd imagine they'll move pretty quickly.

I'm amazed at how efficiently this construction project has been handled. It's moving faster, and more consistently than any other new residential build in the city. Even Regency/150 had big lag periods where nothing was happening on the site.

This building looks fabulous from every vantage point that every has photographed it from...I think it adds some great vertical body to the skyline to the North of the CBD...

Motorized scaffolding being installed at the front along James St, presumably to begin laying the old facade stone.
