@brent_bellamy
Winnipeg’s new tallest building under construction. Bringing 600 new residents to the Portage+Main area.

Although it would mean losing most of the planters, I seriously hope the city takes this opportunity to expand that bus shelter when the northernmost planters are removed to build the ramp. It's already so packed there, and will only get busier with more people there. Even if half of it is just a roof – there needs to be more standing space that doesn't block the sidewalk.

It'll be nice to see this go up at double the height. I imagine the floor plate is significantly larger as well though I haven't checked.

I'll believe it when I see it, this is the 3rd or 4th time I've heard it's going up.

I see the steel going up, but its not over the elevator shafts where other people have said will hold up the tower crane.
i just assumed the steel is for the building structure itself.

That was the steel I was talking about before. Looks like its just part of the building. Located to the south west corner of the southern elevator shaft.

Maybe the crane will attach to it?

I think you alll assume they are using the new buildings shafts. You forget that the old foundation also had shafts in place and since they are not using the same full footprint. My guess it they use those shafts.

As dmacc mentioned, I'll believe it when I see it.

Still, it's great to see how busy it is becoming around 300 Main.

The new elevator cores are rising from the shafts that were built in the parkade during the original Winnipeg Square construction.
