It's been a busy year with work and some travel, so just now getting around to posting a photo thread with images going back to spring. Yes, I took plenty of photos during the Cavs championship parade and hope to post those soon
Opening with a nice crisp shot where I wish I had my DSLR on me but the iPhone pic ain't too shabby.
My company had an event in the 925 Euclid building's atrium; fortunately I got some photos - unfortunately they had a minimal amount of the lights turned on so apologies for the wonky flash shots.
No reason to cry foul or quack up, just some shots from out and about
:
St. Patrick's Day didn't mark the end of cold and snow but at least we ended up with a sunny (albeit chilly) day.
"And YOU get a parade, and YOU get a parade, and YOU get a parade!!!"
Anyone remember the arcade game "Skate or Die!"
The new Hilton, pre-upper floor signage:
Some photos from a quick trip to University of Akron for an event:
Exchange Street is a lot different from my memories from the mid-90s!
With the exception of Thursdays ... that ubiquitous dive joint:
A new urban-format grocery store in the Highland Square neighborhood.
And back to Cleveland - I only had my iPhone for this but saw Belinda Carlisle (lead singer of the Go Go's) at Trinity Cathedral and it's just one of the coolest settings for a rock/pop concert. It's the seat of the Episcopal Church in Ohio and if not for a show, check the place out if you're in town- it's an incredible building with a lot of history:
Things are looking (and building) up
Speaking of up - how about some high-brow culture from the Cleveland Museum of Art, including some special exhibits for their centennial birthday and the blockbuster 'Pharaoh' exhibit:
Enough high-brow, let's get down to the Flats:
Uh oh, a case of the bends - views from the Irishtown Bend neighborhood, named for the original settlers of the area, mostly Irish who worked in shipping:
Over to the recently opened Drury Plaza hotel in the former Board of Education building - don't know about the rooms but the lobby looks great. One nice thing - when the Board of Education resided here, the doors facing Mall A were always locked. Now we finally have one of the Group Plan buildings that opens onto the Mall - kinda cool if you ask me.
There was some controversy about this added canopy but turned out to be fine, imho:
Took me as long to put these photos together as it did for the Hilton signage to go up:
The redeveloped Schofield Building looks amazing from the Azure rooftop lounge at the 9 - it's now Cleveland's first Kimpton hotel:
Obligatory zoom in views of Euclid Avenue:
Some shots from Fast and Furious 8 - they were filming "second set" scenes so no celebrities, just stunts and whatnot. I saw some action shots but didn't have my camera with me at the time, ah well.
And wrapping it up with the soon to be opened redeveloped Public Square:
Hope you enjoyed!
