I agree, great pics, and also about the height. It really needs a couple of 20 -30 story additions. Always did like some of the buildings you mentioned near SAT.

That's awesome, It never occurred to me to explore that area. Did you also check out the Apple complex garages, or is this the same location? I'd definitely like to see your pics.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm looking forward to seeing the external cladding of the Domain Tower. Unique design.

With all that new office space, sooner or later high rise apartment/condos will follow. Probably within the 20+ story range (I would think). Unless there are height restrictions.
Austin's 2nd downtown is well under way!

Possibly, but I'd think it'd have to be outside of the Burnet, Braker, Mopac encompassed portion. There's not much room left.

You can clearly see it from S. Mopac passing over 2222.

I still don't consider it an actual second DT, but it definetly is the next significant area of buildings outside of DT. Once South Shore Central is built up along with E.Riverside (whether or not that Catellus project happens) that will be more like a second DT. I can see the Domain as like a 3rd one. In terms of which is built first, the Domain will but I can see South Shore Central passing it up.

Noticed this sign the other day, just south of the Discount Tire on the SE corner of Burnet and Braker.
The only info I could find on it was that the land was recently subdivided.
The photo didn't turn out well, but the sign says:

Nice to see something popping up south of Braker. I always wondered if Braker would be a sort of border for any new development around there. I hope this is a sign of more to come.

I also hope that as more development comes anywhere in that area, that some sort of street grid develops outside of the Domain itself...especially south of Braker. Should a lot of those industrial sites get redeveloped over the next decade(s) it would really help to have some parallel roads - and not just for cars, of course.

That's interesting. After looking for some info, I found that the Planning Commission rejected their request for subdividing the same two lots at the 01/26/16 meeting.

Nice. That's showing Domain 11 under construction now with the first floor columns up. That marks the start of the construction of the tallest building in Austin outside of downtown, the UT Campus and West Campus.

Project Name: Courtyard Marriott at Kramer Lane

I was looking at the City of Austin Website and came across this project name regarding a proposal to construct a hotel.

(Permit/Case 2017-089250 SP & Reference File Name SP-2017-0270C). The status is "In Review" and the Application Date is "Jul 20, 2017". The address given is 2631 Kramer Lane which has an existing building on this site. Just curious if anyone else has any additional information about this project. Thanks.

I guess this is North Austin (not sure if there's a better thread).

The site plan for a six story Element hotel on Burnet was re-submitted today. This is next to the Randolph Brooks CU by (or part of?) the Domain.

Here are some Broadmoor renderings I posted in the HQ2 thread from Brandywine's flipbook presentation to Amazon:

I have a hard time envisioning how this fits with what is already currently there. I'm guessing all of the buildings there now would be re purposed although the buildings are mostly full.

I'm not sure who the tenants are but according to this there is only one building with office space available. I looked at this around a year ago and there were 3 or 4 buildings with vacancy.

The tallest building in the renderings seems to be at the exact spot where there is already a building, not sure if they plan on doing some demo or not.

Those designs remind me of some of the Nordic cities.

I'm a little disappointed there isn't more height there.

Could be, or they could be keeping them empty in preparation for construction (I have no knowledge, just guessing as to how they could turn the project over in short order).

Seems like a very expensive proposition to just hold onto the property. Also, the parking lot is quite packed when I make it by there before 5:00.
