I just discovered this feature posted on Spiegel Online several weeks ago which I think is truly worth a long look. In the early 1990s, photographer Stefan Koppelkamm ventured into East Germany, photographing the region's historic and largely crumbling buildings. He returned to photograph many of the same sites a decade later.
The result is a beautifully detailed look into the miraculous changes that took place in East German cities in the decade following reunification. Many of the structures Koppelkamm photographed in the 90s look like they hadn't been touched since the end of the Second World War. The article features 36 photographs (18 comparisons), I've chosen to post a few of them here.
