A lot has been done, but way more to come in the future. It's a huge challenge to keep the airport up and running during all this construction.

Quote:
AIRPORT PROJECTS LIST
(This is a partial list.)

North Terminal Canopy - $65 million. Already started. Completed by end of September 2018.

South Terminal Canopy - $65 million. Already started. Completed by end of August 2019.

Extension to Plane Train Tunnel - $210-$240 million. Start date, end of 2018. Estimated completion date, 2021.

West Parking Deck construction - $221 million. Already started. Estimated completion date, 2019. - "Parking changes also have begun rolling out, as workers have cleared the site for a $221-million west parking deck. The structure will provide 5,700 spots to offset the loss of spaces because of other construction. The deck is expected to be finished in 2019."

South Parking Deck teardown and replacement - $420 million. Design start, end 2018. Estimated completion date, end 2020.

North Parking Deck teardown and replacement - $245 million. Design start and estimated completion date, TBD.

Sullivan Road Park-Ride Lot - $23 million. Planning and construction will begin immediately. Estimated completion date, fall 2019.

Concourse T extension - $200 million. Enabling work about to begin. Estimated completion date, 2022.

Taxiway/runway pavement replacement - $24 million. Start date, fall 2018.

End-around taxiway - $55 million. Phase 1 starts, fall 2018. Estimated completion date, 2021.

Hotel, travel plaza, mixed use commercial complex – More than $350 million. Groundbreaking, 2018. - "Also this year, officials anticipate breaking ground for the new 11-story, 440-room hotel and conference center adjacent to the airport. The hotel, which will be run by Atlanta-based InterContenental Hotels Group, will be west of the domestic terminal in what was previously the 10-acre West Economy parking lot.

The building is expected to include 80,000 feet of conference/meeting space and an additional 60,000 square feet of Class A office space. Its projected completion date is 2020. In addition to the hotel and conference center, plans call for two additional hotels as part of a Phase II development on 13 acres just west of the site. Total cost of both phases is estimated at more than $350 million."

Cargo Building C - $26 million. Start date, TBD.

Cargo Buildings 2A/2B - $127 million. Site prep is underway. Estimated completion date, 2020.

Cargo Building 1 - $22 million. Starting 2023. Estimated completion date, 2026.

Sixth runway – $943 million. Start date, TBD. Estimated completion date, late 2020s. - "The airport does have years of planned improvements ahead. For instance, Nissalke said, a sixth runway project, estimated to cost $943 million, will only be started after the amount of air traffic increases to a certain threshold.

“We’re not focusing on the runway right now,” he said."

Fire station - $16.4 million. Under construction. Estimated completion date, 2019.

Airport maintenance complex consolidation - $37 million. Start date, TBD.

Concourse D gate area expansion - $50 million. Still reviewing plans.

What happened the entire concourse G? It will not to be build. I think they will have extension the entire concourse F gates. I think Delta TechOps will have relocated it.

Concourse G is in the planning stages and as they're going through that there is a question over whether it is economically feasible. https://www.myajc.com/business/harts...hEPBQiRUTD1SN/

The final steel beam on the North canopy is now in place. Up next is installing the ETFE and then moving to the South side.

Good! Let make it happen. Too many traffic out there. Please take on MARTA rail from airport. Then don't come at airport with a car.

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, the Georgia Senate's presiding officer, appointed a committee of 13 senators Wednesday to, at a minimum, determine whether a greater state role at city-run Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport would improve its economic potential.

"Atlanta's airport has generated over 400,000 jobs and $70 billion in economic impact for our state," Cagle said. "Year after year, Hartsfield-Jackson earns the title of busiest airport in the world and sets new records for productivity and connectivity across the globe. I have full confidence ... this committee will work diligently to give our state's economy every competitive edge by adding value to this tremendous asset."

Sen. Burt Jones, R-Jackson, who introduced legislation this year calling for a state takeover of Hartsfield-Jackson, will chair the study committee. Jones also sponsored the resolution creating the committee when the takeover bill failed to move in the Senate.

Jones argued a state authority, modeled after the agency that oversees Georgia's ports, could avoid allegations of fraud in contracting that have plagued the airport under the city's management.
