Those are some very nice midrises proposed for Greenville. I like Greenville. It is such a charming city. A couple of the responses to the news article don't seem favorable to the midrises but I think all in all it could be a good thing for downtown. An 11 story building definitely doesn't hoover above everything. One person said it's not human scale. Mid and low rises are human scale. It's not like the developers proposed a 61 story building downtown. I guess it's all relative though.

Buildings on site were demolished in mid-2009. Project was put on hold due to the recession. I am proud to announce after a two year delay this $100 million two-building (9 and 11 stories) project with now a new name, design, developer, architect, tenants, general contractor, etc. broke ground last Friday. It is called ONE: http://www.gsabusiness.com/news/4110...-ground-friday Several tenants will be home to ONE including CertusBank's corporate headquarters and Anthropologie. Brasfield and Gorrie is the general contractor. Financing being provided by General New Markets Opportunity LLC and TD Bank.

Official website: http://www.onegreenville.com/

CertusBank announced during the groundbreaking that they will be leasing an additional 100,000 square feet within the development's 11-story building: http://www.certusbank.com/press/deta...site-of-new-co The bank has acquired another company and 350 construction workers will be hired to work on the project also: http://www.gsabusiness.com/news/4110...ment-brokerage

Design of all glass 11-story building on left side of rendering subject to change:

g-man, does the speed with which they filled up Phase I & II give you the hope that they'll announce a Phase III before too long ? Or would that be a mixed-use tower ?

Yeah...i'd say it definitely helps and gives me hope that it will get built sooner rather than later. Hughes who is the developer has said more offices, retailers or a hotel are possibilities for Phase III.

Tower crane now installed. It has a hydraulic lift so it will rise as the building rises:

Not messing around on these. Do we have an official height in feet for both towers ?

Looks to be about 170 feet on both buildings which would be pretty much be the same height as the Westin Poinsett including the rooftop signage: http://www.greenvilledailyphoto.com/...ne_900x600.jpg and http://www.emporis.com/building/the-...enville-sc-usa

In other news, it looks like I was wrong but in a good way. The tower crane has been raised to its final height with the hydraulic lift now removed. Looks to be right around as high as the BofA building which is 240 feet tall.

170 is not bad. Here's hoping for an even taller Phase III.

Thanks for the updates, G-man! This is one awesome project! The design of Phase II is prettier than I expected! Can't wait to see this next time I am in town.
