Soooooo....it seems that Rand Paul is coming to my place of business on Tuesday along with the media that follows him.
I wonder if they would blame me if I ran him over with my forklift. Not run over his entire body, just a foot or leg or something.

I meant to hit the like button but ended up quoting the post. Needless to say I likes this.

Ok, so Mr. Ferret Head came in this afternoon with the expected rhetoric...."Bla, bla, bla.....we need to cut spending....bla, bla, bla....this country is going in the wrong direction....bla, bla, bla,...
trillions in debt...bla, bla, bla.... I got beat up a lot as a child...."

He's as short as me, not imposing at all and appeared to be kind of....uhh...damp, like if you shook his hand, afterward you would automatically wipe your hand on your pants.

It seems the first thing people remark on is his height. It's funny, because I'd never taken him to be notably/unusually short. Still, it's also obvious he's not tall or even average height, so I'm not sure why people are surprised he's not tall. Meh.

BTW, is your town the one where he ran away from the Dreamers mid-meal, or was that somewhere else?

It must be an unconscious thing to think everybody you see on screen, be it TV or movies, are bigger than they really are.

....I saw the clip of him running away mid meal because he didn't want to face the Dreamers. That was the night before he stopped in the Quad Cities and I'm not sure what town it was. What a creep.
His wardrobe matched his 'miss-matched' hair, nice jacket, tie and dress shirt on top, jeans and cowboy boots below. Derp!

Because, dress pants are just The Man trying to keep you down. Dress pants are leg slavery; don't fence me in, dude. Rand Paul will not be oppressed by The Man, man, ya' dig?

As someone who has on more than a few occasions participated in conference calls from home wearing the similar "business mullet", I can't fault him on that alone. The fear of being asked to stand up in front of the camera; shudders.

I saw photos and video of my workplace and co-workers from his visit on all the local news shows, all three local papers and nationally on NBC, CNN, MSNBC and CNBC. Luckily I was in the middle of the crowd and only being 5'6", I disappear easily.

I do suspect, though, that you'd have the sense not to pull this trick in a TV studio for nationally televised interviews.

It's funny, my mom works in a place where local television crews show up every once in awhile to do interviews. She is so camera-phobic that a crew came in to ask her if she'd like to do an interview during the great black-out of 2003, and before the woman was even able to finish her sentence my mom had bolted down the hallway. lol

I don't really mind being on camera, I just don't want to be seen listening to Rand Paul....Unless you could see me rolling my eyes, then that would be cool seen on national TV.

So, apparently, it rained in Detroit the other day.

Southfield Freeway at Outer Drive - Detroit

Bryan Mitchell | Special to the Detroit News

Bryan Mithcell | Special to the Detroit News

The Lodge at Oakman - Detroit

David Guralnick | The Detroit News

I-75 at I-696 - Royal Oak

Max Ortiz | The Detroit News

This was about a quarter-inch off the record for the area, with the record set in the 20's, but that was before all of the freeways. Wayne County wants to the state to declare a state of emergency. I've heard there are some streets flooded so badly that they are closed indefinitely due to lack of structural integrity. This is just crazy. It's not as if Detroit hasn't had flash-flooding before, but this is catastrophic.

The thought now is that scrappers may be responsible for the highway pumping stations not functioning properly...
