At least one of them. I've seen a few people skeptical that the west side would draw any type of crowd, even when the towers are built, because it's so far away from "everything".

But we can already see, even with no current subway service, the people will find their way. And there's really no real reason to be there at this point other than to enjoy the walk and view. Plenty of places to just relax also. With the coming park system of the Hudson Yards and Hudson Boulevard, everything will tie together nicely.

The "High Line meets the Hudson Yards" is one of the best shows going now, and will be for years to come.

I was out late last night and snapped a couple pictures of construction at 2:30am.

These pictures are taken from 10th Avenue at about 31st Street - looking west toward the Hudson River. These pictures are of the section between the South and North tower. 10 Hudson Yards is directly to the left (south) of these photos.

Coach’s financial woes put Hudson Yards move at risk

By Lois Weiss
November 5, 2014

Quote:
The not-quite-haute-and-mighty Coach is in such a sales freefall, we hear it is reevaluating its long-touted move to the upcoming new Related Cos. and Oxford Properties skyscraper at 10 Hudson Yards. The tower won’t be ready for several more years.

At the end of October, the company reported sales slumped 19 percent in North America and 10 percent overall. It also now plans to close 70 North American stores, which is a fifth of its retail locations.

Coach has already agreed to sell its current nearby office building at 516 W. 34th St. to Related, which would redevelop it into another tower. It also rents space at 450 W. 33rd St., which it is giving up.

Coach also agreed to purchase the new, 737,774 square feet of offices, with options to buy two more floors.
As its first anchor, as an incentive, the costs were to equate to Related’s costs: a rental value of $70 per foot and total price of more than $740 million.

As an early Hudson Yards anchor tenant, Coach will also receive a 40 percent property tax break.

But now, sources said the thinking is that Coach could resell its new condominium and likely lease it back to free up the cash for other corporate needs.

Neither Coach nor its broker, Mary Ann Tighe of CBRE, returned requests for comment. Stay tuned.

Rocky start for Coach comeback
The move to pricier merchandise hurts sales and shares.

BY ADRIANNE PASQUARELLI
NOVEMBER 10, 2014

Quote:
For the first quarter ended Sept. 27, Coach's sales slipped 10%, to $1.04 billion, led by a nearly 20% drop in North America. Meanwhile, the company's stock hit a 52-week low of $32.72 on Nov. 5, and has plummeted 43% during the past year.

But what Coach needs at this point is more time, according to Victor Luis, who was promoted to chief executive in January. "This is a multiyear, multiseason transformation process," Mr. Luis told Crain's, pointing out that the company has a "five-year road map to get Coach to best in class."

To improve financials, the company, which generated $4.8 billion in sales last year, has cut costs by closing stores and trimming head count—most recently laying off 150 in July.

Mr. Luis, however, refutes reports that the company is backing away from its expensive deal to buy a new headquarters now rising at Hudson Yards, just west of Penn Station.

"We are not re-evaluating our deal with Hudson Yards," he said. "We are committed to it."

More important, faced with increasing competition and a fading brand, Mr. Luis is fighting back. He recently brought in a new creative director, Stuart Vevers, from Spanish luxury house Loewe, and asked him to craft a pricey, upscale collection designed to appeal to fashion's elite group of influencers and big spenders.

All of those photos are amazing...but that last one is fantastic. It's literally new Chelsea in one picture.

Sidenote: I LOVE 500 West 30th..it's understated but super elegant, classic Manhattan in every way, and it helps give the Hudson Yards area a mix of designs that most neighborhoods need way more time to achieve.

That picture is freaking amazing. Which one is 500 West? If it's that little white glass building to the left, I totally agree - love that one.

Nope, it's the red brick one that pops into view in a number of shots...

And I agree with NYC2ATX that it's a good one. Its massing is just a tad too boxy, but other than that minor nitpick it's a solid addition to the city.

Also, thank you Kevin and NYC2ATX for the compliments! Much appreciated!

One thing I notice about the site, there are more "average" people taking note and seemingly excited about this tower as it rises, including the elderly.

That's not normally the case. But you would think this is the only significant tower going up in the city sometimes.

Manhattan’s 10 Hudson Yards to Get VaynerMedia as Tenant

By David M. Levitt
Dec 5, 2014

Quote:
Manhattan’s 10 Hudson Yards, the initial tower under construction at the $20 billion Related Cos. project on the far west side, has gotten its first office-lease deal since early last year.

VaynerMedia, an advertising and content-producing company specializing in social-media placement, plans to take space at the building, Gary Vaynerchuk, co-founder and chief executive officer, said in an e-mail. The agreement is for about 90,000 square feet (8,400 square meters).

VaynerMedia would join Coach Inc. SAP AG and L’Oreal USA in the 1.7 million-square-foot skyscraper, which was about 85 percent occupied without the new tenant. Related is constructing two office towers and a retail complex on the eastern portion of the site, west of 10th Avenue between West 30th and West 33rd streets. The company hasn’t announced new office leases at 10 Hudson Yards since the L’Oreal and SAP deals in April 2013.

That's quite a pretty curtainwall, welcome to the forum. Maybe you could post some pics of your own! I love this building and site, I just wish we had a webcam.
