The gardens are intended to be a key component of this site, there is significant demand and it will put people in the park at all times.

As for the LRT, it will be largely transparent and great to sit there waiting for a train, win win.

Save the date - the groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 7 at 1pm. More details to come! Mayor will be there, EPS will be doing some pomp and circumstance, as well as other activities planned.

Hoarding and construction are anticipated to start on Monday, June 13.

Indeed. I believe the lot is now closed to cars and gravel has been removed.

What a beautiful day for a ground-breaking. A huge thanks to all involved over the last 8-9 years on this. So many people touched this and a special thanks to everyone at the City of Edmonton for their leadership, guidance and assistance. Finally, to all of the DECL folk and partner stakeholders for ensuring this came to fruition. This will certainly be one of those things we all look back at in 10 or 20 years and point to it as being a key reason for Downtown being a truly great neighbourhood and community.

We could use a few more small parks....like the Chestnut Tree...and I am looking forward to see Alex Decoteau completed. It will be well used.
