Correct, it was reported in the Calgary Crane thread that there is indeed a base in that corner now.

Isn't the height now officially 213m?

If it is maybe one of the admins could change the title of the thread. Not sure if that was rumor or what in the DP.

^ The latest height given is 212.3m. No new updates on that front since mid March.

Ok, I was wondering where I got the 3 from. Ha

Anyways was just wondering if that was a DP height or just a number given an article.

According to the city news releases from Friday, there's a road closure starting tonight through tomorrow for erection of a crane.

Progress hasn't been bad, when you consider that ground was broken in December.

Supermétal Structures wins structural steel contract for Penny Lane Towers

There was a story in the Sun about this yesterday but I prefer the stories to be short and accurate (ie. never trust the media on their numbers).

Quote:
Supermétal Structures wins structural steel contract for Penny Lane Towers
July 9, 2008

Structural steel manufacturer Supermétal Structures Inc. of Saint-Romuald, Quebec will manufacture and install the structure of Eight Avenue Place in Calgary, better known as Penny Lane Towers, for EllisDon Construction.

The $1 billion project consists of a futuristic 50-storey office and commercial tower in the heart of Calgary’s financial district.

The order has an estimated value of more than $50 million. The work will involve assembly and delivery of 11,000 tons of structural steel fabricated in the company’s three plants, located in Edmonton, Sherbrooke and Saint-Romuald. The installation is scheduled to begin in June 2009.

When completed, the Eight Avenue Place office tower will add one million square feet of office space to the Calgary market. The Triple-A Class building will be designed and built to meet LEED Gold standards.

Supermétal Structures is a long-established Canadian-owned company with facilities in Quebec and Alberta. Supermétal specializes in the fabrication and erection ofstructural steel for industrial and commercial projects. For more information on the company, visit the Supermétal website at www.supermetal.com.
