The insane part about the pic from the WTC observatory is that its good for foreshadowing whats to come. 432 Park looks freakishly tall, but 111 West 57th Street will be slightly taller and it has a little elevation boost. Plus its even thinner! Then we have the Central Park tower, and lastly, Vanderbilt, which has essentially a slight roof height boost to 432, and with a spire.

Vanderbilt will be a monolith. Not only is it taller then 432, but its bulky as hell. Two towers that will take the spotlight are 30 HY and Vanderbilt. 30 HY may not have the sheer height, but its fat nature will make up for it.

I just feel bad for the Chrysler building. Sometimes its easy to forget that its technically a super tall, but its like little Marco.

if you really want to get allegorical, consider the Trump tower looking down on the UN... really, the whole world is little Marco

I heard the UN is moving its HQ there. The eiffel tower is moving there soon as well. Elon Musk even decided he didnt want to go to mars anymore after visiting.

Clearly the one who has the biggest hands is Barnett.

I think Trumps biggest tower is the one in Chicago, but he really isn't in the spotlight anymore. Surprised he hasn't taken advantage of the super tall boom. There are some parcels near HY that are begging to be bought, and IDK why he hasn't taken advantage of it (or his kids really as they run the show now while he aims to be POTUS).

Yes, but the Chrysler building is still a stunner and will remain a landmark even as these other great towers rise.

Yes indeed. As Midtown East (et alia et cetera) begins to fill out over the following near decade or so, Lady Chrysler will be sen all the more as the Woolworth Tower of the Great Northern Skyline.

I think this one is just about "wrapped up" as far as we're concerned, but haven't been over to the site to personally check things out.

MARCH 21, 2016

Meanwhile, the Central Park sunlight committee met to assess the situation on supertall shadows....they ended up enjoying the view instead.....

This tower is definitely a grower, I like it a lot now. It will also look better when the other supertalls rise around it.

Yes, It has been fun watching this grow from the ground up, and many thanks to all of the posters who displayed their superb photography skills!
Even if some were from cell phone cameras (some of those are the best shots!)

I know 432 Park Avenue will soon disappear from the "Super Tall Construction" pages. I just wanted to say, It's been nice, Thanks.

Somebody please put a pulsating electrical current . .
into the angelic wings at Bethesda Fountain . .
It's a disgrace to see unsanitary pigeons shamefully squatting - etc. . .
upon the chaste angels's healing wings . .
that so graciously embrace our celestial skyline . .
(as seen in NYguy's Mar 22nd post)
. . and how about a little water . .
or don't call it Bethesda . .
