Looking good! Let it rise. Any intel on the Phase II residential yet? I like all the glass but would love to see some architectural diversity brought to the area as well and see something like 220 Central Park South or something droolworthy like 111 W 57th Street hit in Phase II.

There will be a variety in the second phase, which will include a school. 35 Hudson also stands out from the glass towers.

Related projecting $1.7B sellout at 15 Hudson Yards

July 06, 2016
By Katherine Clarke

Quote:
The Related Companies is seeking a $1.74 billion sellout at 15 Hudson Yards, one of the largest condominiums hauls ever recorded in New York City.

The New York state Attorney General’s office approved Related’s condo offering plan June 2, meaning the building is now able to launch sales. The 88-story tower is slated to have 285 market-rate condos and 106 affordable units. The condo with the priciest sellout currently on the market is Vornado Realty Trust’s 220 Central Park South, with a projected sellout of $3.1 billion.

A spokesperson for Related would not comment on specific unit prices but said Related was “thrilled to start sales of the first condominiums at Hudson Yards this fall.”
“We have already experienced a tremendous level of interest,” she said.

The tower is financed in part by the Children’s Investment Fund, a United Kingdom-based hedge fund that’s bankrolled the construction of supertall condos for the likes of Harry Macklowe at 432 Park Avenue and Larry Silverstein at 30 Park Place. The fund ponied up $850 million in construction financing for the condo portion of the project.

I wonder if there are any plans to re-do the riverfront on the other side of the West Side Highway once Phase 2 is built out. Seems like a new destination in the making.

That would be pretty cool. Almost like Battery Park City. Actually along the Hudson, there's a couple of stretches where that could theoretically happen. Its going to be stupidly expensive, but another Battery Park City would be great. If the land in Manhattan is short in supply, just "build" the land.

Although given the amount of lots around HY and proxies, a lot more will rise. I could though, once the West side becomes as dense as Midtown East, something the likes of an extension like Battery Park.

Isn't the Culture Shed to be built out first before they can actually proceed with the tower?

Also, wasn't the great public sculpture/interactive centerpiece for the plaza at Hudson Yards supposed to be revealed to the public in July? Almost September and that long awaited "Eiffel Tower" compared iconic centerpiece has yet to be revealed.

The long awaited, the greatest iconic sculpture, the $200 million Eiffel Tower of New York is under construction. Will post photo soon. Hopefully, its not the greatest disappointment in the history of New York.

Where is number 3?

I was under the impression it would be announced first, not built out. It's obviously NOT going to be Eiffel Tower wow... that's not only iconic but huge! It may well be amazing but it's really putting a lot of hype on something that will likely not even be all that tall... hopefully though it will be a very fitting and high quality piece of artwork and it is intended to be interactive, so I guess we'll know one way or the other fairly soon.

New Renderings For 15 Hudson Yards, Designed By Diller Scofidio + Renfro

Quote:
The entirety of Hudson Yards is buzzing with activity. Each week seems to bring additional superlative announcements from the various corners of the neighborhood, with One Manhattan West, 35 Hudson Yards, and 15 Hudson Yards all rising above ground level over the past month. YIMBY now has fresh renderings of the last building thanks to Related, and the Diller Scofidio + Renfro/Rockwell Group-designed tower is now on its way to a 910-foot pinnacle.

The design has seen notable changes since initial conception, but revisions compared to the most recent materials seem nonexistent. A relatively streamlined base will taper into four attached tubes by the time the tower reaches its clover-like peak, and the new look makes it clear that this will be echoed by the rooftop at 35 Hudson Yards, which will crest in a similar but slightly more angular arrangement.

At 910 feet in height, 15 Hudson Yards will stand taller than any residential building built prior to One57. That also underscores just how dramatic New York’s supertall boom is, considering One57 was only completed in 2014; when 15 Hudson Yards opens in late 2018, it may barely scrape the top 10 of the city’s tallest residential buildings.

I think the "culture shed" is definitely going to become a landmark for NY.

It is still operable, right?
