As much as I like the designs of the new buildings pictured here, I think Philadelphia needs a cease fire when it comes to bluish glass. Between these three buildings, the new CHOP building, and the original Cira, the buildings along the Schuylkill are very one dimensional.

I'll agree with that...I still like most of the projects going up but wouldn't mind seeing more variety. That's why I'm such a big fan of projects like 1601 Vine.

Agree as well. I look forward to the first Schuylkill Yards tower, the one with the reddish hue that will make it a little different from the blue glass towers.

It's starting to blend in very nicely with the skyline.
I'm wondering though, are they going to do something with the "concrete wall" that goes the height of the building?
(Where the crane was located during construction.)
It doesn't look too bad, if you like that "brutalist" style of Architecture.

Honestly, this looks like one of the high rise dorms at PENN.

Yeah this one really feels mailed in - cheapest possible exterior design for high end condos mean a nice bang-for-the-buck for developer.

I will say, though, that up close the glass is incredibly reflective - almost has a polished glossy sheen to it - that makes it more interesting than, say, 1919 Chestnut.

I didn't like the white panels at first either. But like others have said, there's lot of blue glass going up... at least the white panels is some variety.

My hope is that some how they will figure out a way of turning all these mistaken white panels into some kind of green/living vertical strips.

This is definitely a cup half full or half empty sortof project. Its so much better then Carl's pink tower on Broad ST. but for a building that's in such a visibly spot, and a spot that won't be boxed in any time soon, it could have been so much better. I'd really like to know who made the final choices as to the finishes.

That view from the Schuylkill River is Philly's East River of NYC!
