Goes a long way to destroying the widely-held stereotype of this city as the boring government center vs. cosmopolitan Istanbul.

Very nice quality pics, and the city looks great. I too was surprised by the US style houses in post #16 (btw, about half of the pics in that post are red x). Some eye opening stuff sercan, thanks.

Istanbul has been at the top of my places to go to list for quite awhile and now it looks like I'm going to have to add Ankara. Turkey always seems to surprise me, definitely one of the world's most beautiful countries with very impressive, beautiful, and dense cities.

New Ankara Central Station

there will be new Highspeed trains in Turkey.
One of the first route which will be opened (2008/2009) is Istanbul-Ankara

Well.. There was a some sort of swampy lakelet there much before, then they blocked the way, and formed a artificial lake. Then few years ago built that park.

This the morning view of the park.

In the name of natural lakes, we have 2 big lakes very close to Ankara. And also some small ones covered by forests about 1 hour distance from the city. Other than that, City lacks big rivers or lakes inside the city, but there is plenty of parks like those. I will post some here, just let me organise the pics
