Yeah, sorry, I guess I wasn’t clear. The one prior to the most recent one (July 2020) was in July 2019.

Girders start going up tonight in the north up at the 14 Street interchange. Not sure why this interchange is taking so long since grading had already been done.

Why is the City building this interchange and not the province? Also, what is the cost of this project? You're right about this taking forever. The province set everything up for them the rest could have easily been done in less than a year. According to the website it's not going to be done until next summer.

Didn't the city fund the Stoney/Sarcee interchange changes too? It helps expand the city road network without waiting for the provincial government to get around to it. I assume developers are helping to pay for it too?

I thought the province built an interchange at Sarcee initially that was on the basic side. The city very well might have paid for the upgrade. The City's website indicates something similar will be happening at Shaganappi and a new interchange at 11 St. N.E. No cost info is provided. The 11 St. N.E. interchange has been talked about for years. I can see developers/businesses helping to pay for that one.

If the city can just throw money at provincial roads wherever they see fit, then they should start chipping away at widening Stoney NE which is needed far more than phantom interchanges in the NW, or commit money to the short term recommendations from the Deerfoot study.

The province is doing design work now on adding lanes in the N.E. between 17th Ave. S.E. and the Trans Canada. Hopefully it'll get funded right away out of this extra COVID-19 infrastructure spending.

The province is also apparently working on Deerfoot stuff. There's supposed to be money already set aside. I think they're trying to determine what will give them the biggest bang for the dollars they available. If they were to add in a few hundred million more I'd like them to tackle Glenmore to Anderson. Fixing those two bottlenecks would solve the major problems in the south.

The 5 short-term recommendations do include a southbound basketweave between Southland and Anderson which will make a huge difference. Mason originally announced $478M for Deerfoot last year which could do everything then some. Now it's already been slashed to $200-ish. Widening the northbound bridge over Glenmore by one lane seems a relative cheap improvement that would make a big difference.

A basket weave between Southland and Anderson would likely help (particularly from a safety perspective) but IMO the main bottleneck is the southbound two lane section just before the bridge over the Bow river and the two-lane section northbound just before Anderson merges onto Deerfoot.

Also the bridge over Glenmore Trail is a two-lane bottleneck in both directions.

It would be good to get any Deerfoot upgrades done while traffic volumes are still (COVID-19) light . . . but I don't see anything happening that quickly!
