Nice update on the Apple Campus -- including new info about a 6 story, 192 key hotel being planned right at the entrance to the facility. No word on brand or operator at this point.

I noticed several cranes on the SE horizon from the DKR stadium construction webcam. Does anyone know which project(s) they belong to?

I think these are the same ones I saw earlier in the Burleson/Montopolis area. I noticed a 3rd crane had sprouted recently.

I noticed these a few weeks ago driving south on I-35. I have no idea what they're for, or where they are, but they have an impressive presence in that direction.

The Velocity development near the airport got a density boost.

According to the ABJ, Plans for Velocity, formerly called Velocity Crossing, now call for 7 million square feet of apartments, offices, industrial and other commercial space on 314 acres Austin-based Marketplace Real Estate Group said in a June 15 announcement. Originally, 5.5 million square feet of development was proposed.
Included in the revised plans are 2,683 apartments; 2.9 million square feet of office space, allowing for two large corporate campuses along with traditional office space; 585,000 square feet of flex industrial and creative office; and 310,000 square feet for other commercial uses including retail, restaurants, a movie theater and three hotels. It will all surround a seven-acre central park. https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/n...source=twitter

Leander growth explosion

I didn't realize Leander was that big now.

Whoa! When you say 'mid-rise' and 'Cedar Park', I'm thinking 3 or 4, maybe 5 stories. That is taller than most similar projects going up along corridors in Austin.

Totally huge for CP, and honestly more than a bit out of scale. Makes me want to revisit whatever the Bell Blvd plans are to see how this fits in.

RedLeaf properties was chosen as the master developer of the Bell Blvd district earlier this year. They are also behind the redevelopment of Highland Mall. Most of the buildings will be between 3-5 stories tall. This one will definitely stand out, but not dramatically.

Funny, but this reminds me of the Walled City of Kowloon that once existed in Hong Kong.

Between the April 1, 2010 census and the July 1, 2019 estimate, Williamson county had grown by ~40%. If this is the case, Williamson county should have somewhere between 615,000 and 620,000 residents as of July 1, 2020.

This would have been pretty great at the Triangle or Crestview (the density, not the design). The article OP linked to said the developer agreed to bring the height down to 82 ft and 6 stories but they didn't update the images.

Oh good catch -- I missed the reduction.

I'm only really complaining about aesthetics; I'm for density like this pretty much everywhere, and especially in places that have decided to bill themselves as the "next Domain." If you're asking for urbanism, you oughta actually GET urbanism.

I agree that the Triangle would be great for this. There's still so much open land up that way ... I wonder if, as the state buildings along Guad get reconfigured whether we'll see more land open up or get developed.
