Sweet map, I hope it develops like that. Lebreton needs to be planned as an Entertainment centre. Would be great to have a place where there is always something going on.

Ottawa's nature and its makeup effectively means that an entertainment district where something is always going on is not very likely to happen. If Byward does not do this, and Lansdowne does not do this, I assume LeBreton also would not do this...

Hasn't the Market already done this, or do you mean something different by "entertainment district"?

Different. More like Distillery District or Gastown (which would be more like Byward) vs Dundas Square. Lebreton being a hotspot of tourists to visit to see things like the Falls at Chaudierre, catch a Sens game, have a boardwalk with views of the river, late night cafes or karaoke spots. Obviously not being the same capacity but having that foundation to grow into that. Byward is nice the way it is, but doesn't serve that definition.

So is this previous rendering still what is being constructed here? Or has the design changed?

That's the latest design released, though it's a few years old at this point.

I was down there today and was surprised to see how far along this guy is. Is there any hope for a height increase on this one? For some reason I think 35 would be good next door to Icon. I guess 30's not bad....

I think the original 35 would be amazing here. It's a rental project now so it will go up extremely fast. I don't suspect they will increase the height at this stage because the process would take longer than the build.

Walked past the site last Friday. The base of the excavation is very deep now, maybe 4 or 5 levels down. I'm unsure if they are at final depth yet or if there is still more excavating to go, but I would expect this one to start rising in the next few weeks.

I'm a little confused...doesn't this project have an above ground parking garage on the first few floors? Why are they digging so deep?

The podium doubled as the parking garage when it was proposed as the tallest with wavy balconies, but the current version does not.
