I don't know why people are so excited about this development. It looks like Avalon 3.0. Let me guess...the streets are private.

The original proposal looked more like an actual city neighborhood than a mixed used suburban Avalon clone.

on another note, i'm wondering if that's that existing 60s international-style office building in the foreground in that rendering? (i thought they were going to be tearing that down, to my chagrin)

The semi-circular presumably steel/concrete condo and office component is just gone from this latest iteration. Now it's simply some stick built multifamily (rental) infill to existing office building surface lots... with some retail as an afterthought. Is the cycle coming to a close?

The only thing that comes to mind is "meh?". This is becoming the latest model of the retail mall. I'm sure it will be popular with those living in the area.
