No chance of it happening here, but Starbucks is notorious for opening outlets across the street from each other. IIRC there was at one point three at an intersection in Vancouver!

The Simpsons even parodied it...

My bad, I was thinking of a different location.

Just speculating but Second Cup was looking to expand in Dieppe. Could be a location without a drivethru?

It's possible but that's a lot of coffee shops in a short distance.

I've also noticed that there is a sign for a 2nd Red Satay location on Dieppe Blvd in the new building next to NB Liquor.

I heard that the new construction next to Acadia Vet was going to be a Domino's Pizza.

Also, I found in the September PAC meeting a variance application for a drive thru (pick-up window only) so I assume that there will be a pick-up window similar to Domino's on Mountain Rd.

Here's the link to the PAC meeting : http://www.dieppe.ca/en/hoteldeville...tembre2015.pdf

I think VW owners are a very loyal bunch and most VW in Canada are not diesels. Dieselgate will be resolved and cars recalled, I mean the cars themselves are still solid and safe automobiles, unlike recalled cars from GM or Toyota and the many others. By next year people will talk about something else in the auto world. Meanwhile, the construction of the new Audi and VW dealerships are both moving forward indeed, the smaller building is the Audi building (next to highway) and VW will be the larger building next to Aviation Avenue and the airport. I would buy a VW or Audi, but not a diesel one, same thing as before the diesel scandal. Never liked diesels from any brand.

Seems to be 4 storeys, not 5 as first announced.

Edit - adding a bit of info from the article:

Quote:
Downtown Dieppe will be home to first Wingate by Wyndham Hotel in Atlantic Canada by early 2017.

In a press conference held Monday morning at Dieppe City Hall, it was announced the $9 million, 80-room hotel and convention centre will be built at 69 rue du Marché, under M.C. Hotels and Resorts. Construction is slated to begin in spring 2016.

M2K, the company of former Ramada Plaza general manager, Rolande Thibodeau, will operate the new hotel. The Wyndham Hotel Group is the parent company of Ramada Hotels.

...

The municipality is investing at least $800,000, including $270,000, towards 27 underground parking spaces for the hotel’s convention centre. A large portion of the city’s contribution will go towards landscaping the public space surrounding the new structure.

I think it will be interesting to see a hotel in this area of Dieppe, Wyndham is a large international chain to be associated with, so that will give this property some visibility. Nice addition to the area, but I must admit that the building is rather bland and looks like something found in a business park or big box area.

Indeed. In fact the new hotel looks distinctly suburban in character. I thought Dieppe was trying to create a new downtown???

I agree I would have expected more bling to it rather than the bland cookie cutter hotel. I hope IF Cadilac Fairview decides to build a hotel on the property of the mall that it will have more bling.

But overall its good news for the downtown Dieppe area and that will add more construction jobs and long term jobs for the hotel industry in the area.

I can bet that, that is not the final render, there is no sign on the building, I would say they just put that in to give people a general idea of the area and presence it will have. Wyndham tend to have movers hotels than that.

The Hotel was the first or second thing to close up when Crystal Palace started the changeover.

The old CP building only has Chapters, Cineplex and BSP now.

I agree it isn't the most impressive design, but I think it'll make a big difference in downtown Dieppe. It will hem in the public square behind city hall nicely and will fill in a big part of the void along Marché. Add to that the plans for expansion of the farmers' market. Sooner or later the lots on either side of Place 1604 will follow suit.

Let's not forget that 1- Dieppe doesn't have the corporate base that Moncton does, and a huge chunk of its businesses are located in the Dieppe Blvd area which is already served by three hotels. 2 - The a 59% room usage rate is pretty low and will be hurt by whatever else gets put up with the Events Centre which probably goes to why this place isn't huge. 3 - This place doesn't really look like it's intended to cater to retail tourists.

I'd posit that it's going to look very similar to the renderings.

Do a Google image search of "wingate by wyndham" and you'll find the same basic design in tons of locations.

Better than nothing for sure, but disappointing. Looks like something you'd find off a highway.

I thought they would have gone more: https://www.google.ca/maps/@46.08952...2!8i6656?hl=en

Just on a smaller scale.
