Thanks for th feedback...and I think it looks shallower than it is, because of it's sheer size...

Looks like we're a good 4 floors down... i think the most they'll go is 5 which can only mean we're nearing rock bottom !.. this was a fairly quick excavation

I never thought it would have moved this fast but we might see foundations beeing poured by the end of the summer if we're lucky !

I was over by the site the other day (on the east side of yonge) and i noticed how huge the podium will loom over the street below and it extends for quite a distance !... aura will be a city changer thats for sure !

I have to say that I'm most excited about AURA of all the buildings going up in Toronto.

Great looking building! Wish Calgary hopefully gets a couple like this in the near future.... I think some of the best buildings going up in NA are in TO! That includes Chi, and NY.

Here's some INSANE aura madness...

dt toronto geek over at UT:

Shot #5 in dt's set of photos is INSANE! How deep is this thing gonna get! From that shot it looks like we're at the bottom! i'd say we're a little over 4 floors down! (maybe 5)

Click on the thumbnail to enlarge, then click again on the image for full size.

Man is that ever a large pit...though my question is...is it as large as the one for Shangri-La was?

This is bigger than Shangrila. This is the biggest construction pit that I have ever seen for a tower in Toronto ever. Only the Bank Towers were bigger. And this pit is allhell larger than the recenly completed Bay Adelaide Centre... and that was 1.2 million square feet. This building is also a good 30 meters taller than Shangrila.

Shangri-La's pit was reported as the deepest. This looks larger, area wise though. The Four Seasons pit was huge as well.

Yes, thats right, Shangrilas pit was the deepest pit. But you know, because the surface area of this pit is so huge, we could get fooled into believing that it is not also the deepest dig as well. We will see... but for them to match Shangrila at depth digging they would have to go down at least eight floors.

I believe Aura will only go down 5 floors... so shangri-la will probably still hold its title for deepest...

Aura is BY FAR way larger than shangri-la's pit! I'd say at least twice (if you include the entire hole (for the parking, etc...)

Even with the parking levels included during its excavation in the 80's, the Aura Pit still seems much, much larger. Of course, I was only 15 or 16 when they were being excavated back in the late 80's and early 90's.

OMG! So awesome (in like an intense way) seeing concrete barriers around the city (. its probably a sign of protestors). And Aura is just sick! Such a huge pit over there!!!
