Great to see Carlos! Glad everyone in NYC made it through Irene A-ok. Wish the same could be said about our friends upstate.

P.S. I hope "Katia" doesn't get any funny ideas, either for you guys or us here in SoFla

Finally I can see it. Wait until it's finished.

That's pretty wild that you can see it from that far away AND from right behind that memorial. And the camera doesn't even seem to be zoomed in that much since you can see the foreground so easily.

What height is 1WTC at right now? They said it would be 1000' by 9/11/11.

Also, does anyone know whether the rate of construction will slow down after 9/11, specifically 1 floor/ week being that they'll have hopefully reached their goal?

Some very cool videos:

(This one even has a strangely-appropriate song. This is probably the guy that updates the Google Earth model.)

I wonder which crane they are for. I would have thought that all the cranes near 1WTC would already have their counterweights in place.
Specific lifts have specific requirements. They must be looking for more capacity on an upcoming lift.

Hi there, I'm new to the forums and just stumbled across them by accident, I'm from California and you hear virtually nothing about the progress of the new WTC. Is there a reason for this? I cannot believe the progress that has been made so far, it is truly spectacular! The last time I was there was a month before and a month after 9/11. Nothing is being reported. Everyone has been contributing awesome pictures by the way and I check them out everyday.

Next vertical steel will bring it above 1000'

They're not gonna slow down.. Their goal is to finish the building..After they make 1000' they will have another goal..Topping out in the first month of 2012..

991 is the height currently...the next jump will be 1000+ which should happen before 09/11/11. The glass should be close to the height of WTC7 as well.

And no they will not be slowing down.
