So, yeah, Austin has 8 towers on the way that are over 700 feet. One of those is under construction (6 X Guadalupe). To put that into perspective, Dallas has 5 towers over 700 feet. Houston has 11 in that height bracket with another one under construction. If all those happen, that would put Texas in the top three along with New York and Illinois for 700+ footers, and we'd have nearly twice as many as #4 California.

The design changed. Previously, it was planned to be 613 feet with 42 floors. I wasn't so crazy about this new design they have for it at first, but I'm coming around to it the idea. I like the color and facade design. It's just the overall shape that bugs me.

There are a few already, but nothing that I would really call a skyscraper. The tallest so far is The Dorsey condo tower, but it's only 170 feet. There are taller buildings planned farther out than that. So far, the Domain in North Central Austin is turning into our 2nd downtown with a handful of 200 foot buildings built and under construction. There's also a 300 foot office tower under construction up there. And there's at least one office building planned that could be a few feet shy of 400 feet there. Then there is the 3443/Austin Viie office park in East Austin that WWMI mentioned that could have three 400 footers, plus two 200 footers and a handful of other low highrises. Then there is the Statesman newspaper site just south of downtown across the river. That redevelopment has shown several renderings with a handful of towers. One of them could be north of 500 feet. And there already a handful of high rises south of the river now. The tallest now is a 200 foot condo, and there's another 200 foot office tower being built nearby.
I did a Google Earth rough model of Austin projects and included the 3443 Tech campus. You can see them on page 5 of this thread:

Statesman redevelopment thread - there are renderings on page 13 and a model on page 16.
