It looks as if the additional Speedbird was to have departed yesterday...but, had some sort of problem. It departed ABIA at 4:16 p.m. today just as the normal BA191 flight was arriving from LHR.

In any case, there are two Speedbirds headed toward LHR, from AUS, at this very moment.

When I came across that tidbit I posted yesterday, I also saw in a business traveler forum that a Dreamliner broke down here. The plane was supposed to go on a different route after getting back from Austin and the complaint was actually about the people expecting to fly on the Dreamliner but instead they ended up on a 777. Apparently they weren't happy about the response from the BA staff as they told them they were lucky that there was a plane available at all or their flight would have been canceled.

I'm sure it's fun flying in a new plane but I'm not gonna get torn up about it. A plane is a plane, as long as it gets me to my destination in one piece I don't care what type it is.

Yes, for those who weren't expecting to ride on one of them yesterday. For those who were, it was a long delay for them, and definitely uncool.

If Jdawgboy is correct, the Aug. 12 outbound passengers may have only had a few hour delay. A B777 may have been able to ferry them to LHR that night while the B788 was being repaired. Possible...but, I cannot confirm it.

I think the people here trying to get to London were here overnight and left when the mechanical issue was fixed. The 777 was the replacement for the people in London that were supposed to be using the Dreamliner to get to another destination. I can't remember the name but it wasn't in the U.S.

The 787 that services Austin is used on the Philly route as well. No replacement was sent for Austin that evening. They used a 777 on the Philly route....At least that's what I was told....

Okay I see, it was here in the U.S. then. I didn't recognize the city code.
