Earlier this week I had a dental appointment, so I used that as an excuse to take a half day off from work. I used that half day off to bum and walk around Pasadena, and take random pictures, and then meet my partner for dinner when he got off from work.

Welcome to Pasadena.

The Wrigley Mansion. Yes, the Wrigley of Wrigley's chewing gum. Built in 1906. It's now the headquarters for the Tournament of Roses, and called Tournament House.

The Gamble House. Yes, of Procter & Gamble. Constructed in 1908-09. It was used as Doc's house in "Back to the Future."

Suicide bridge. Well, officially the Colorado Street Bridge. Opened in 1913. Since it opened, there have been over 100 people who committed suicide by leaping from the bridge to their deaths. The first suicide took place on November 16, 1919. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, there were many suicides. There's one story I read where back in the 1930s or 1940s, a woman committed suicide, leaping from the bridge while carrying her very young daughter---the daughter survived.

Old Pasadena. But everyone calls it Old Town Pasadena, or just "Old Town," as in, "I'm going into Old Town." Though there are other old towns in the San Gabriel Valley, Old Town Pasadena, I guess, is *THE* Old Town.

This is actually a pretty good vegan restaurant. In fact, we had dinner there two nights ago.

This is a Filipino-owned business. I love their ube milkshakes, and ube cupcakes topped with leche flan. Mmmm, mmm!

Years ago, I worked for a company that was located above the Il Fornaio. The business is no longer there. When I worked there, I would occasionally eat lunch at Il Fornaio.

Pasadena Post Office, built in 1913. It predated the Pasadena City Beautiful Movement plan of its Civic Center, and contributed to its look, being that the Central Library and City Hall were built in the 1920s, and the Civic Auditorium was built in the early 1930s.

Our go-to cinema for arthouse/indie/foreign/documentary films. We also go to the Arclight in Pasadena too.

One of my favorite independent bookstores. They've been in business since 1894. They have many book-signings, an author speakers/readers series, and poetry readings. We hang out here often.

The campus of California Institute of Technology, or as everyone else calls it, Caltech. When I saw the news van, I wondered why they were there. I thought maybe there was an earthquake or something.
