Just speculation on my part. IMHO the GWL/BCIMC guys have more of their ducks in a row.

There's an apartment tower going up next to the Marriott on 10th? If so, awesome, and also, why haven't I seen this yet?!

So it'll basically be Hotel (Marriott), Apartment, Hotel (Sutton Place) on the same block?

Wow With that, 6th and Ten, Place 10, Mark on Tenth, and WAM 10th Avenue, that will basically be 5 entire blocks of 10th Avenue transformed by 2018 or so, except for the surface lot across from Mark and WAM.

Quiet thread..anyway...May.30.14 Update

Progressing, 2,3rd floors of existing centre (top right) opened up. The plans call for a large convention space above the Roadway, joining old and new into one.

The connection of the old convention centre to the new expansion is beginning to get under way in the far upper right corner eventually spanning York Ave as shown in the renderings below.

Looking awesome Winnipeg! Will it be the 2nd or 3rd largest in the country when complete?

I believe it will be 4th largest at 490+ thousand sf. total. Behind Montreal, Vancouver and T.O
There may be other cities that surpass this as it was announced several years ago.
Calgary must be close to this figure as well?
