Great game, Toronto totally dominated throughout. The score was 1-0 with a couple near misses in front of a sold out crowd. TFC's now at the top of the MLS standings, GO REDS!

If this game had have happened in June (when the pitch was fixed) it would have been 4-5 nothing easily

Actually it was the league (NASL) that folded in 1984 so every team had to fold but Vancouver came back the very next year with a team.
Not a raw nerve at all - I was just questioning something you stated (that's alright isn't it?) - that's all

After playing at Vancouver's 32,000-seat Empire Stadium for most of their existence, the team moved into the brand new 60,000-seat BC Place Stadium in 1983.

With the subsequent demise of the NASL in 1984 the Whitecaps, along with many other teams in the NASL, were forced to fold.
and in case someone decided to alter it

Oh im all in favour of questioning what I posted no probs. I was just stating what I was told by sports media. Put another way: Congratulations Vancouver on your 40th year of professional soccer. No city in Canada has a longer history with professional soccer (not even close) and no city in Canada/US has a longer history than Vancouver. The Northwest has a very strong soccer culture which is why Seattle and Portland have such huge crowds. I think all 3 Northwest cities have the highest attendance in the MLS? Maybe? 2 out of 3 for sure (Seattle/Vancouver).

Montreal up 1 nil in first half against New York. Later at 3pm Pacific TFC play and then at 330 the Vancouver Whitecaps are at home to Colorado.

Edit: now 1-1 between Montreal and New York.

Really impressed with how MLSE has made a true financial commitment to this team. Cesar is an undisputed world-class goalkeeper, and Defoe is having his way with the less skilled MLS defenders.

Hope to make it out to a few games this summer.

I sincerely hope Calgary, Hamilton and Quebec City consider getting new NASL franchises and that both they and FC Edmonton get new soccer-specific stadiums. That would make for a nice 8 team national professional soccer league. If more Canadian cities get a professional team then all the merrier!

40 years ago today the Vancouver Whitecaps played their first professional soccer game against the San Jose Earthquakes. And that's who they're playing today as well.

Congrats Impact for this BRUTAL, BRUTAL, BRUTAL season. Fucking bunch of losers!
I won't even bother watching them next year if they don't improve DRAMATICALLY (and make HUGE changes).
I can safely say I have not watched a single Impact game since and don't plan to in the near future. Pathetic team. They are very much irrelevant in Montreal this year.

I just look at the results and laugh. Enjoy the empty stadium idiots.

They just lost to the worst team in the NASL. Unbelievable.

And to think they were one of the best teams in the mls at mid point last season.

Heads shall roll. Bring out the guillotine and put Frank Klopas and DeSantis there.

3 coaches in 3 seasons. What can you expect? There's no consistency, no cohesiveness. This sucks.

TFC 2 Whitecaps 1. Whitecaps are playing 3 matches in a week so fielded a side of many teenagers, young Canadian players, and 2 players from their residency program. A roster of only $1 million versus Toronto's $15 million.

Yep, really looking forward to the game on Wednesday. Whitecaps looks great. I want to see TFC win the Canadian Championship, but I always enjoy watching the Whitecaps.

I really stopped enjoying Montreal last year. Didn't like the personalities behind the team, and only a couple of players that I enjoyed the style of. I was all over TFC when the season ended, and after the Impact's embarrassing display in Houston in Round 1 of the playoffs, I washed my hands of them. A bunch of babies.

Now Toronto is fielding the best team in its history, and the Impact are going to be forced to make the changes they desperately need. Hopefully NDS is the first out the door. Meanwhile, I'm trying desperately to visit my parents in Toronto this summer so I can take advantage of their season tickets.

So far, I'm really enjoying this MLS season. Disappointed to see Defoe not make England's World Cup roster though. That would have been great.

Montreal has been such a disappointment thus far. It's really embarrassing to watch them play. I've always been one to not give up on his team during a rough patch, but you can see that they're in some deep shit. I can't say it's all the players' fault, though.

Vancouver finally beats Portland in MLS after 3 years of trying.
And Portland is finally defeated at home after over a year of being unbeaten.
