Ya, the original was amazing, then second version was much worse but still ok for a 7 / 8 story but that last rendering is shit.
Hmmmm I hope you're right!

Yes, it's looking like it could very well be the glassy version. But I'll believe it until I see it, as nothing surprises me anymore. Fingers crossed.

Great pics, as always! I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I don't hate Olympic and Hill. I don't love it, I don't even like it, but I don't hate it, which is about the best I can say about TCA's recent work. It really does change how the street feels in a pretty dramatic fashion, especially the Hill St side. The Olympic side is worse, IMO, but we'll see after the rest of this corner gets blown up.

I hope so as well! I lingered around the site for a good 15 minutes trying to catch a worker and talk to them, but they were all up above ground level...

Maybe someone needs to give Carmel Partners a call and ask?

Are we finally, FINALLLLLLLLYYY seeing exterior work on the Embassy Auditorium after all these years? My guess is that they are painting the fire escapes right?

Also, these views are awesome. Some lucky tenants that will be living up there

The Staples Center View is going to be so different in 1 year... cant wait to see a pic from the same angle with 10 cranes in the air

8th and Grand is unbelievably massive.

It looks like we are, I'll keep an eye on it. I hope you're right about the Staples Center area. Other cities are still booming right now, and we're building only 5,000 housing units (all low-rise), and 0 hotel rooms at the moment. Why is that?

Wilshire grand, metropolis phase 1 and embassy are all hotels. That's like 1500 rooms just in those projects . Fig central also has a hotel, and the hotel next to the new Marriott should break ground next year. Mack urban project also has a hotel in phase 1

Metropolis Phase 1 is happening, you're right about that. Wilshire Grand is basically a replacement of a hotel so not much of a gain there, and Embassy is in the Hotel Clark boat - who knows whats happening with either in terms of actually opening.

All these hotels (Fig Central, Marriott, a few others) were supposed to break ground in 2014, why haven't they? We are sorely behind in hotel rooms, certainly more so than ANY other Downtown, AND the city is sponsoring hotel development!

Still a couple months to go in the year. Mack Urban has mentioned a few times that they will break ground before the year is up and i think i saw a public notice for Fig Central so we might get both U/C before too long.

Also, we have added a lot of rooms recently. The 4 marriotts alone are almost 2000 rooms and its only been recently that tourism has picked up in downtown LA, and now rates and occupancy are pacing the city. There is a definite need and we will be fine, its just that were about a year behind SF and Seattle

I hope you're right! I think you have more knowledge & experience in DTLA real estate than most people on this forum.
