Have you by chance heard of a completion date for the Bank of America Tower and Allscripts buildings? Or any new info about the Edison Office or the second Charter Square project? I haven't heard anything recently.

The new North Hills tower (actually called Tower IV) is waiting on an anchor tenant before it starts. That's why Allscripts got going so fast - they were ready to go they just needed a tenant.

The Allscripts building is going up fast, should top out at 12 floors in next month or so.

Both Charter Square North and The Edison office tower are both trying to secure enough tenants to start. I imagine they want it at least half full before they start. The market isn't there yet to build a new tower completely on speculation and try to get tenants later. This is the same thing with The Dillon tower by Kane. I think we could see 1 or two of the three break ground this year (I hope).

On project that has gotten under way is the Residence Inn hotel. Site work started late last month. There are 3 more active proposals for hotels in downtown but they could take a while. The Residence Inn was first proposed 4 years ago so you can see how long some of these things can take to actually get going.

From New Raleigh:

"Beautiful proposal for a new building on E. Hargett Street (between Landmark Tavern and Remedy Diner) by Hobgood Architects for Monarch Property Co. Building is designed to give views to both the city and the park (Moore Square) hence the undulating facade"

Updated rendering of Dominion's Charter Square North. It's been toned down a bit from the original plans.

Very Clean Design I think I may like it better than the original! Bring it On!

I did like the original design better, but the initial color of it looked darker than it actually would have been:

Raleigh is on a blue glass craze right now with a number of blue glass towers either recently completed or planned:

In other news, construction is underway on the new railway station. This old warehouse will be the new Union Station:

Here's a rendering of the residential portion of The Dillon project. Most of the renderings have focused on the high-rise (which you can see in the back)

Permits have been issued for demolition of the previous Greyhound station to make way for new apartments which, humorously, are called The Greyhound right now since they don't have an official name yet. Here's the rendering:

The Residence Inn hotel construction is moving along:

New Kane Reality residential building come to North West Street in the Glenwood South area. Rumored to include a Publix (or at least some form of grocery store). 400 apartments and 40,000 to 50,000 square feet of retail.

Wake County approved a new transit plan that includes commuter rail that connects Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Garner, and the Research Triangle Park and share a couple of stations with the Durham-Orange light rail line. Also included are dedicated bus lanes for rapid bus service to RDU airport among other things. This will place a 1/2% sales tax on the Nov. ballot.

Proposed commuter rail map:

Edison office tower and Charter Square north are still in "planning" phases which means they are still trying to fill enough of the space in pre-leases that they go ahead.

The Residence Inn should be topping out before too long, I'll get some pics this weekend. This is one from back in mid May:

The Dillon is nearly through with demolition. They have braced the frame of the building that will become part of the new building:

I'll have to get some new photos of the Allscripts building in North Hills and Union Station train station which are both coming along.

Also, I don't think this rendering has been posted. This is a proposed mixed-use for West street on the north side of downtown, bordering Glenwood South. It would include a grocery store.
