A Spokane, Washington-based hospitality company plans to open a new hotel in downtown Houston in the second half of 2018.
Red Lion Hotels Corp. (NYSE: RLH) will build its 10th Hotel RL at 1005 St. Emanuel St. Hotel RL Houston Downtown will have 150 guest rooms, retail space and a signature restaurant and bar.
The hotel will also feature meeting areas, a business center and a fitness center.
Red Lion Hotels operates 125 hotels in the U.S. The new Hotel RL will be the company's first location in Houston and third in Texas.
This will be a great addition to that area. It's close to the convention center and three sports venues. I hope it'll bring more life to that area with ground-level retail, etc., as well. Cool to see.
The proposed tower will sit in-between the newly-built Frost Bank Tower and another proposed office tower, 2850 N. Harwood, on the empty lot directly across Randall St.
The site — which is about three-quarters of an acre — at 2007 Randall Street is bound by the McKinnon, Randall and Harwood streets in the Harwood District.

Crescent Communities has filed a rezoning request with the City of Dallas, asking for additional density for the project for a 240-foot tall building, or a tower that is 20- to 22-stories in height.

"This will be a smaller project in an internationally inspired district that is liveable, walkable and ensure the restaurants would continue to see traffic on the nights and weekends and give office tenants a place to live," he said.
Crescent Communities — not to be mistaken for Crescent Real Estate in Fort Worth — could get the project underway by the end of the year, or the first quarter of 2017.

Melbourne high-rise developer Joe Russo has secured two development sites in Houston, Texas, with plans for about 1000 apartments.
He paid about US$8 million ($10.5 million) for a small block in Houston's "latte and laptop" mid-town district with plans for more than 350 apartments over 28 levels.
Russo told the Australian Financial Review it had an end value of about $228 million.
He has also bought a second site across the road that will hold more than 600 apartments, with plans including shops and a piazza.

Senterra Real Estate Group was unable to prelease a good portion of the proposed building, a requirement it had before moving forward with construction, said Neil Tofsky, chairman and CEO.
For now, the company is planning to weigh its options.
