New York 1975

Hi!

I am following the 'noirish Los Angeles' thread for many months now (I'm still going through all the pages with all those photo's, man what time I need for that! ). When seeing those pictures, I thought about the old dia's that my father took back in 1975 in New York, and I decided to create an account and share them with you, for whoever is interested in seeing those.

The quality is not optimal, it was no proffesional camera gear for that time, but I think it's still worth posting them.

Anyone else having old(er) pictures from NYC, please feel free to post them, I'll be happy to see them!

WAY NASTIER........that is the era of sex and drugs and anything goes, and a place called Plato's Retreat.....The area around Times Square was one big porno shop and X rated theaters lined the streets. The underground music seen before Punk music broke into/onto the main culture/seen and became New Wave also before Disco became trendy with the masses and it was really a Gay thing. That is when rock music was played with dance music at Max's Kansas City and The 82 Club..

OMG! I didn't know NYC had a healthy population of flying rope and string like animals back in the 70's!

I really really wish I were an adult aleady in 1970s, when everything was so perfect and No.1.

Nowadays everywhere all looks the same.

..The cities today do have a lot of the same cookie cutter chains which makes homogenized and repetitious.....The other side of that is you have too seek out the unusual and original aspects of cities which makes them different in themselves.
