Food: Newfoundland, Canadian (Poutine, etc.), American (Wendy's), Fusion, Absolutely Everything without Cilantro. I probably like Indian, Mexican, and Japanese the most.
Music: Newfoundland Irish, American, Balkan, Folk, Dance, Mournful Storytelling, Arabic, Classical, anything except some rap and most country.
Travel destinations: Anywhere in extended Europe, from Baku to Cork, Quebec, northeast United States. I loved Bermuda, but haven't been able to afford to go back. Hated (HATED) Florida. Tolerated the Carribbean.
TV: BBC documentaries, all documentaries (PBS, Al Jazeera, etc. Can't stress enough how far above everything else this is. You'd struggle to find a documentary I haven't seen, if it's at all available online, from Japanese swordmaking to Albanian women who live like men to traditional pickling methods in Ireland), anything with characters I care about. Haven't been able to find a pattern in which shows give me that. E.g. Walking Dead, I care. Fear the Walking Dead, couldn't give less of a fuck who dies, so stopped watching. Fave shows at the moment are VEEP, Game of Thrones, Mrs. Brown's Boys (HUGE in NL. HUGE. Everyone watches illegally. It's one of only a handful of water cooler shows here). Keeping Up Appearances. Good Wife, Madame Secretary, etc. Locally, my fave show ever was Hatching, Matching, and Dispatching.
Driving: No preference whatsoever, as long as it looks tolerably cool. I have a cheap Civic two-door.
Books: Anything by a local author. Getting into poetry more lately, especially Al Pittman.
Sports: Meh. I do enjoy watching them but I barely know what's going on with the game. NHL I'll root for whichever team with an NLer is doing well. Otherwise, for the Bruins. Love watching hockey, soccer, rugby, and American football IF it's a gathering with friends.
Dating/partner: No real type - exes have been a little bit of everything.
Alcoholic beverage: Beer.
Newspaper: The Independent, The Telegram, Christian Science Monitor, The New York Times.
Hobbies: Hiking, photography, video games, road trips

Food: Mexican and Japanese, whatever semi-authentic stuff you can find of either in yeg I like. Also creative 'craft' sandwiches, thin crust pizza, diner food.
Music: lots of hip-hip, like the big names (Drake/Kanye/Kendrick), some shoegazy or slacker rock indie stuff (Beach House, Wild Nothing, Mac Demarco, Real Estate) and electronic (Flylo, thundercat, tycho)
Travel Destination: I'm young and in uni and work all summer long so I don't get to travel much. Trying to get to Western Europe and the eastern part of NA soon (MTL, TO, NYC). Love going to urban places. Loved Vancouver when I went.
TV: BBC Crime Dramas on Netflix, other Netflix shows (House of Cards, Bojack). Like indie movies or artsy, well-made dramadies. HBO has Veep, and I like The Knick too.
Driving: German, Japanese, looking into getting a Volvo. Would be happy with a Civic that has an auxilliary outlet for my dope tunez.
Books: Coming of age stories or non fiction soccer books.
Sports: Oilers and Liverpool are the two big ones. Dabble in NBA. I go to FC Ed games sometimes.
Dating Partner: No ethnicity preference. Happy with skinny or curvy as long she's cool. Like brunettes typically, but blondes are great too.
Alcohol: Beer. IPAs, german lagers, stouts, love em all. Quite like Rye and Ginger as well.
Newspaper: I don't actively seek reading news outside of sports, but a lot is presented to me through twitter. I'll read the Edmonton Journal now and then if there's a copy in front me.
Hobbies: None are consistent. Cycling, Soccer, Drinking, Being Ironically and Unironically Pretentious, Reading, Watching TV, Going on Forums or Twitter/Reddit, Attempting to Socialize, Music, Drinking.

Food: Asian and seafood would be at the top of my list, but I'll find food I love from basically any type of cuisine.

Music: My tastes are all over the place. I like classical, but also love some of the pop/disco from the '70s and '80s.

Travel destinations: I haven't renewed my passport when it expired several years ago, and haven't gone further than places like FL and TX during the last few years. South East Asia is on my wishlist though. Too busy to travel at the moment. I have close-ish relatives on the French Riviera, but the last few times I saw any of them was during their own trips to Quebec/NYC/etc. I hope to resume traveling eventually before I die.

TV: I'm not a big watcher of TV, though I can enjoy a good movie or show.

Driving: I'm a big car guy, mostly a fan of old American cars (I've owned a bunch already), though I currently own a VW GTI and a Corolla in addition to my domestics. Yes, I have several cars, and I work on them myself.

Books: I'm pretty picky. I'll enjoy a good novel, or a science book.

Sports: I don't really care for watching professional sports. I love to play soccer, volleyball, and also hockey though it's been years since I had a chance to. BTW, I find it pretty sad that the default usage for "sports" nowadays seems to be "sports you're watching" instead of the more logical "sports you're doing".

Dating/partner: as long as I find her attractive and we get along well, I suppose it's fine. Natural redhead is a plus.

Alcoholic beverages: I prefer red wine, but don't drink much.

Newspaper: I'll read the Journal de Montreal whenever I'm on the road and stopping at a fast food place to eat..... the crosswords in it are WAY too easy nowadays though -- zero challenge.

Hobbies: hiking, cycling, reading... I note that you have "real estate" on your list of hobbies, well, if that actually qualifies as a hobby, then anyone who's been observing me during the last decade will have to put that at the very top of my list of hobbies.

You'd love festivals like Hot Docs in Toronto or Doxa in Vancouver. Does St. John's have anything like that? Maybe you can apply for an arts grant and run an independent documentary festival in St. John's. You can host it anywhere. I once went to see a Sigmund Fried movie in a mental hospital (as a visitor, not a patient!). People will go anywhere as long as they get to watch movies.

Not exclusively documentaries, no. I only know if two annual film festivals here, one for women's film and one for indie films. Fun enough but doesn't excite me the way Hot Docs does. Sounds perfect.
