So while I agree the idea of a townhouse might appeal to people over a condo, the fact remains ... a 70 storey condo can house 800 people... Try building 800 townhouses anywhere in Toronto? There's simply no room, and if there was... the price would be three times an average condo.
There's plenty of space to build townhouses. IIRC, parking lots cover 12 percent of the city. There's thousands of singles, semis and, townhouses being built right now in the 416. My point relies on the market correcting itself and, no, I don't mean the recent slowdown in condo sales . Prices will drop. With that said, new infill townhouses bordering The Beach are significantly less than the $900,000 infill downtown is demanding. Those $900,000 downtown townhouses are also 2000 square feet. Try finding that in a new highrise.

the townhouses I'm talking about are dense infill. No yard. Maybe a small private patio with a roof top terrace being by far the biggest outdoor space. Parking is underground. The house is yours but the grounds and parking garage fall under a condo plan. There are always stacked units too for half the cost of a concrete highrise.

Buddy, seriously, there was a minor slowdown centred on new condo sales. Prices didn't drop at all. Resale took a few days longer to sell. The bidding wars disappearred. Poor agents and brokerages had to actually make an effort for their 60,000 plus commissions.

+1 I've actually heard this from people, they think it's normal for massive subdivisions but a bunch of condos is "exraordinarily odd" and "who the f*** keeps buying these shoeboxes" all from Barrie area residents

I updated my future Hamilton skyline render that I originally posted back in June. The location was revealed for Hamilton's new tallest, the 44-floor Hamilton Hammer, so I added it in along with a shorter 23-floor tower that is part of the same development.

Left to right:
- Bella Tower, 28 floors, under construction
- 22 George Street (partially hidden by Bella Tower), 25-30 floors, planning
- The Connolly, 30 floors, demo/under construction
- The Hamilton Hammer, 44 & 23 floors, planning - *added*
- Gore Park Development, 30 floors, planning
- Artizen Condos, 20 floors, pre-sales
- Tivoli Condos, 22 floors, pre-sales
- Residences of the Royal Connaught, 21+24+36 floors, sales

Source: My Photo

Not in the picture:
- City Square Parkside Condos (tower 2&3), 11+11 floors, under construction (hidden behind the hospital on the left)
- Residences of the Royal Connaught southern addition, 14 floors, sales (couldn't fit it in the photo)
- Gore Park Development's office tower, 10-15 floors, planning (hidden by 30 floor Gore Park Development's residential tower)
- 150 Main Lofts, 12 floors, under construction (hidden behind a building)
- 339 York, 29 floors, planning (hidden behind a building) - *added*

Amazing that Hamilton's skyline has hardly changed in decades and is now on the cusp of a whole new look.

Hopefully the plans all come to fruition, and the action continues...

Excellent job dleung, definitely worthy of discussion!

The south end skyline of downtown will be completely transformed, many of the remaining "table-top" skyline viewpoints will be removed. The multiple peaks also further gives it that "Manhattan" look.

Looks great Beedok. This will only make downtown more vibrant and add to its appeal.

This one is probably the nicest future rendering of the Montreal skyline that I did. MONTREAL 2016 so far

Looks great! Once Pier 8 is fully serviced (construction suppose to start in 2015) we should see new condos soon after by the waterfront too.

I know the West Harbour Villa at Tiffany Square is only 8 storey but that should have a noticeable impact to the waterfront skyline.
