wow. Old school with Channel 7. That was Connor Vernon on weather and Dave Cody on Sports flanking Neal and Stephanie in the last clip. Dave has been in Austin for just about as long as I been alive. I was born in '83. I think he came here in '85 and I believe has the longest tenure on Austin TV currently along with Judy Maggio who's been here since 1981.

Ron Olivera, too, has been here a long time, but then again, he did leave for a while. He's back now on KVUE. I met Connor Vernon when I was in Cub Scouts. We went on a field trip to KTBC's studios, and were there while they did a newscast. I remember shaking hands with him.

I know. I could tell because I've always seen 100 Congress, the one with the triangular roof, with a three triangle lighting pattern, was always supposed to be on the left side of the river, looking from the river, and the San Jacinto Center was always supposed to be on the right side, the same position 100 Congress is shown on the picture.

Hey, AustinSkyscrapers, can you please post the link to where you found those two photos? You have to credit the photographers, or the place you found the photos.

I like this one from AustinPostCard.com. Is that Austin's first highrise under construction?

Are you sure that lightning strike hit the little cab of the crane on Austonian? They sure wouldn't be happy with that.

Actually it went down to a pair of street poles and suddenly a DeLorean disappeared...

Yes. That's the Scarbrough Building. It was the first traditional high rise to ever be built in Austin. The Capitol, Old Main at UT are/were taller, but they aren't traditional high rises. It was also the first steel skyscraper ever built in Austin.

Actually, it didn't hit anywhere near the operator's cab. It hit at the back of the crane near the counterweights.

Ya. I was watching channel 8 and they said that firefighters had to deal with a small fire after the incident. The police also had to deal with the DeLorean because it was driving way more faster the speed limit. They used their speed guns and found that the car drove at 88 mph before it disappeared. They suspect the person inside to be Micheal J. Fox.
