KC....did you intentionally align the under-construction crown of Terminus seen in the foreground of photo 16 with the horizon? I just noticed that they are at precisely the same horizontal. Pretty cool! Also, for those of you not as familiar with Atlanta, this tower will be Buckhead's tallest, but only for a short while, since there are two other towers in Buckhead under construction already which will both be taller.

This one seems to get Terminus, 3344 Peachtree and The Mansion construction sites in one photo. Imagine this angle in two years when Buckhead's three new tallest are complete.

Yeah, not so much their style and design, but that there's more than one area of commerce (L.A. has Downtown, Century City, Wilshire, etc and Atlanta has Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead). With as notoriously spread out as both cities are, its actually better planning to have more than one central business district.

Wow, looks like Buckhead rivals Bellevue for the title of "most construction in a non-central mixed-use business district in the US". (I can see arguments coming!)

Midtown has fantastic examples of relatively-new buildings that are well designed with classic architectural styles. Meaning the pointy ones. I'm jealous of those, and also the use of brick.

I love the trees.

That freeway past Midtown is astonishingly wide. Good golly.

not light years. maybe a decade. (talking midtown here) the amount of projects planned for the district is astounding, and there is a very conclusive plan for the years ahead. you have it backwards - it's not very dense, yet, but it is becoming more and more successful as an urban environment, daily. i really don't need to say much else.

buckhead suprised me just a little here. it's really becoming a third cbd - especially once the village and the mall area grow together more.

thanks for these photos, and i'm really looking forward to your downtown set.

mhays...locals call that the "downtown connector". I-75 arrives from the northwest and heads out of town to the southeast, and I-85 arrives from the northeast and heads out of town to the southwest, and they are joined together as I-75/85 through Midtown and Downtown.

I love all the greenery, its the one thing that makes Atlanta so unique IMO. Yes indeed there are some beautiful skyscrapers too. I haven't been to Atlanta in a number of years now, but what I did see I liked. Now would I want to live there? Probably not, but at the same time I wouldn't hate living there. Hey they subways so thats a big plus in my book.

These are fantastic shots. It makes me think "god, I'd love to live there" and then I remember, "oh, I do live here"

. From the ground level, it's not quite as impressive as what we see here; there aren't a lot of terrific vantage points from which to take in the city (there are a few, but you have to be travelling 70mph and that's not condusive to taking long, appreciative looks). The city is definitely improving, however, and if mass transit accompanies increasing density, I think Atlanta will be a cool place in about 10 years.

not only that, but you can really see how the whole city is just lost under the tree canopy. that's quite ridiculous if you ask me. it's like towers come from nowhere. and holy crap they're building a lot!

Bronco..that's a sweet tower, isn't it! It's 1180 Peachtree, also known as the Symphony Tower. It's been under construction for the last few years and was completed earlier this year. It's even more spectacular at night! Also, that's the Midtown skyline, not downtown. KC has promised a downtown post and I can't wait to see it!

I can see the appeal to skyscraper enthusiasts! Too young of a city for me, but it seems like it's on a decent track. Buckhead is starting to look like Midtown, and Midtown is starting to look a tiny bit more like Downtown.

I can't wait to see the downtown aerials... now THAT's the part of Atlanta I can get excited about.
