I noticed while looking at this picture that from left to right, the 4 icons are in chronological order. The Statue Of Liberty is the oldest, the Empire State Building is the 2nd oldest, the space shuttle is the 2nd youngest, and One World Trade Center is the youngest.

I think that the new World Trade Center is only going to be as iconic as the twins were because of their history. If they were a new complex, and not rebuilding something, they would not have been as hyped over. Would they have been paid attention to? Yes, but not as blown out of proportion. And don't get me wrong, I love this entire complex, I was just there a few weeks ago, I am simply stating an opinion.

New york has seen a couple of space shuttles in recent months... I feel these photos will end up being like the zeppelins floating over the Empire state building when it was under construction in 50 years. relics of the aviation industry floating over one of the cities largest buildings being built...
