Thanks East72nd. As you said Boise has Micron, we also have a large Hewlett Packard campus as well as dozens of other large and small hi tech companies. Simplot Corporation (one of the largest privately owned companies in the world) has their headquarters here and some of the cranes you saw in the photos are for Simplot's JUMP project as well as their new headquarters which is under construction.
Albertson's is headquartered here and rumored for headquarter job growth after they finish buying out Safeway later this year. Winco, a regional grocery store chain has headquarters in Boise. Morrison Knudsen Corporation, which was one of the largest construction companies in the world was headquartered here but is now owned by Washington Group International (WGI). MotivePower also has headquarters in the city and they build trains and commuter rail cars here in Boise for cities around the world.
There are also a lot of state government jobs, banking jobs, etc. Bodybuilding.com is headquartered in the valley and Boise Cascade has corporate headquarters downtown. The Boise State campus downtown employs a lot of people. There are a lot more employers, but what I've listed should give you an idea of what makes Boise tick.
