BALTIMORE in March

Two years ago I spent six weeks in Washington D.C. During that trip I also had the chance to visit Baltimore on a nice March Saturday. My image of Baltimore was from HBO's The Wire and I must say I was pleasantly surprised to find an interesting and safe Downtown with interesting Inner Harbour area.

These are touristy shots, but I only had one day.

Old power plant has been converted to an entertainment center.

At Dick's they guarantee you crappy service.

Barnes & Noble inside old powerplant.

National Aquarium in Baltimore is city's biggest tourist attraction.

Dolphins on a break.

Monkey in a tree.

Around Inner Harbour.

Tallest observation deck in the city is located at the WTC Baltimore. Entry is just few bucks.

Federal Hill

Aquarium below

East Baltimore hoodz.

Downtown panorama before rain sweeps in.

Old lighthouse

Spice manufacturer McGormick & Company was founded in Baltimore.

Tallest building in Baltimore, Transamerica Tower (161 meters, 528 feet).

Inner Harbour and Downtown panorama from Federal Hill. Classic view.

Amtrack high-speed rail plan for Boston - DC. I hope it will happen.

I've always loved the look of Baltimore. It's got this classic Americana vibe to it. Super charming.

Thanks for the great photos, Klazu.

Thank you. Baltimore indeed has some great bones for future economical revival. I didn't have the time nor did I dared to go off the beaten path, being alone and carrying an expensive camera with me. There are some really rough looking neighborhoodz in Baltimore, just outside of Downtown...

Amazing pics. Baltimore has got such an interesting downtown with the harbor. It's already getting lots of investment but i could see this city growing hugely in the 21st century.
