It really is remarkable. When I've got some time I'll do shoot a really beautiful shot of it.

Looks like the crane is getting mounted on the north side of Wilshire Grand Tower. But there is still one in the core at the moment. I'm not as educated in skyscraper construction as most on this board, does anyone know what the crane situation will be over the next 6 months?

Between Feb 2 and 9 the traffic lane below will be closed and crane 3 installed above.

Ya they've brought it a long way over the past year or so. I think we'll see a lot more restorations like this over the next 24 months.

all the heavy lifting done by dtladenizen to keep this thread going can be added to by ppl like me who admittedly merely borrow....copy & paste....from other sources. This pic has been posted by a forumer, desertpunk, at the other website devoted to urban devlpt....

Despite LA's reputation of being new and modern, downtown LA has more old-school signs than any other downtown I've been to (well, excluding NY and Philly perhaps). Those glassy towers are deceiving- downtown LA has plenty of grit and grime. Cool pics.

i actually like the Broad now that its done, but one small change would have made it great. The top is too uniform. The peaks shouldnt be on a even line.

NYC, Philly, Chicago, San Francisco, and a handful of other cities (in the US) have way more, way better historic architecture than DTLA. That being said we are lucky Historic Core was left generally untouched.
