Chrysler counts the spire. But it's still gorgeous.

SHVO Central Park is a fantasy straight from the over inflated ego of a RE broker.

It's not going to be 100 floors and I doubt it will even hit 1000 ft, let alone 2000. The density to build such heights just doesn't exist on this site. Then there is shadowing concerns which will provide plenty of fodder to the NIMBYs masquerading as an arts society.

I hope I'm proven wrong

I don't know what you're talking about, as

1. We don't know where the Shvo site is

2. There are no height limits along 57th Street, and the FAR is extremely high everywhere along 57th Street, so practically any development site could be a supertall if the developer chooses to go that route

3. The Municipal Arts Society has no jurisdiction over anything along 57th Street, and shadow studies have no relevance to an as-of-right project, and

4. Shvo is a real estate developer, not a real estate agent/broker.

Crawford, I was unaware of points 2 and 3. This is good news. I'm still skeptical of a 100-storey building but less so now than before.

^Yeah I'd say it has quite a good chance of gracing our skyline in a few years (assuming it would have a nice design.

I'm somewhat skeptical too, as we don't have specifics yet.

But, so far, everything proposed on 57th is a supertall, and there are tons of available assemblages, so it sounds possible. We'll see as we get more details.

A 100-floor tower would be fantastic if designed right. In any case, I'm sure we'll hear more soon, as Shvo is now underway on two developments in Manhattan, and this is supposedly the third site.

Supertall list has been updated. Other buildings, i.e. <1,000ft, will follow as soon as I got more time. For a complete list of New York's 656ft+ / 200m+ skyscrapers see Wiki link in my sig.

For now, we have (completed / under construction / in preparation / on hold / approved / proposed)
- about 30 supertalls
- over 110 200m+ buidlings: 57 have been completed, 9 are u/c, 2 are on hold and about 40 are in various phases of pre-construction.

3 Hudson Boulevard [aka the GiraSole] down from 1,060ft to now 1,034ft [and 66 floors]. Not a big deal. Roof garden at 982ft. Construction to begin this year, as apparently the building has signed new tenants.

That's crazy to think that the city will add 70 percent more 200+m (pre-construction), and including u/c, that's 86%.

Currently there are 56 buildings over 200m completed, and 3 are topped out so that makes 59.

Average height of all 200m+ buildings: 14,331 / 59 = 242.9 ~ 243m.
In feet: 47,018 / 59 = 797ft.

New York is getting taller by the day! When 432 PA tops out, we'll get another massive height boost.

PS: Clearly towers in the 700 - 800ft range are fillers.

Average height by 2018 / 2019 (+22 buildings which are u/c or in prep now):

20,951 / 81 = 258.7m.
In feet: 68,737 / 81 = 848.6ft.

By 2030 or even sooner 1,000ft will be filler!

They are aiming for 108 floors and ~1,800ft.

Can't wait for the full rendering. Love the base. This is great news, and a positive outlook as there is a website up for it, and its not like its a pipe dream. There's actually a desire to get it up which is always great.
