Winston-Salem:
Corpening Plaza Watergardens & Park
Designed by Zion & Breen Associates

Built by Piedmont Airlines in 1987 as a gift to the city.

This is the same design firm that designed Paley Park in NYC and you'll see their signature waterwall / waterfall. Corpening Plaza Watergardens & Park hides a large underground parking deck attached to an airplane-themed green glass office building. A large reflecting pool, in the upper park, becomes a tall waterfall (around 4 storeys tall?), designed to be seen from former Interstate 40 (now Salem Parkway). Two arms of falls, with multiple fountains at the top, enclose the lower park space. The water features light-up at night

I took these three photographs 18 years ago:

The person looking out at the reflecting pool shows how big this is:

The water is loud, but it's a great place to be:

Zion & Breen's signature waterfall, designed to be seen from the Interstate:

I don't have a photograph of the reflecting pool. This is a found photograph of the large reflecting pool that becomes the waterfall:

I'm always amazed at the dearth of fountains in South Florida. Considering the climate, you'd expect a lot, but the only area that really has them is Sunny Isles. Many of the condos on Collins have amazing ones. Miami itself hardly has any.

I am not finding many water features in my photos of South Florida...but here are a few:

But Vizscaya was an independent estate. There are very few in Florida’s downtowns. The cities with the most seem to be NY, Boston, DC, Philly, Pittsburg, Chicago, KC, St.L, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Houston, and SF. Dallas, Charlotte, and Atl also have a few. Savannah also has one beautiful fountain.
