^recommendation from admin goes to Council which then approves funding.

I'm not so sure what he did wrong here... yet... at least. Imagine poor grish on these forums. He would cry foul at every turn of the thread-page. Please keep SSP the way it is, and keep the perinnal whiners and baby-fest at c2e.

I would like to see the bridge lit up at night. one way or another. It is elegant and clean, but if lit up the right way, it could really stand out give an impression. especially during the winter when its dark most of the time.
Jasper and one o nin likes da idea of light-en it up in da night time... oops, sorry, sorry.... sorry

It looks like it is in this picture - I wonder if that is already in the plans, or if it was just done for effect:

The bridge looks promising but they should add a fourth lane to the bridge if they expect this bridge to remain viable for the life of the bridge. Two identical bridges side by side won't look good.

It will be interesting to see how the light scheme will pan out for the bridge.

The colour of lighting on a bridge can make a significant impact on bird strikes (birds hitting wires etc.). I believe blue typically results in fewer impacts while red attracts most species.

Looks like a mini-me for Shanghai's Lupu Bridge - which is great, IMO.

Looks great! I especially like the observation deck aspect! any road infrastructure in which pedestrians are not a mere afterthought is a winner in my books.

I'm curious to see the difference in scale between the existing bridge and this one... can someone superimpose the old bridge onto these renders?

(i know it won't be perfect but just to gain a sense of how much taller)

Simply eyeballing it, the current arches are half the size of the proposed arch.

Arch looks to be twice as tall as Walterdale. Haven't started drinking beer yet...soooo yeah, at least twice as tall as Wally.

I like the fact that they lit up the bridge in the last pic. I'm still wish there was architectural lighting for HLB. Both bridges lit up at night would look nice.

Wow. The Edmonton Sun published a fairly shining endorsement of the Walterdale replacement project and the selection of the most expensive option.
