Rome might have such an area, but I didn't notice it when there - not even from high locations with great views..
So I doubt it has a Paris style business district - what modern office parks there are are likely located out in the suburbs and kepts pretty low to not stick out..

Not sure I have a favorite place as such..
One thing that I have learned is that I don't think I'd ever want to live and work outside Denmark, or former parts of of it such as Norway or Iceland.. at least not permanently..
That said I do enjoy the vibe and moods of other places, especially the more exotic ones, and when it comes to that I really like Hong Kong and Japan.. and New York City for that matter ( going there again soon
)
I don't know.. everywhere have it's own charm and feeling and I tend to like it in it's own way.. what I don't like are areas with inequality, crime, poverty and such, that pisses me off ( why my feelings about the US is rather mixed )
What is important to me is that one can trust both the local government as well as the people - why I tend to stick to developed nations - as long as that is covered and the place isn't filthy or polluted I think all places have their own charm and is likable in their own way..
Hope it answers the question - it's actually a tough question as it's like food one day you are in the mood for Sushi and the other day Pizza
