I mean, Des Moines, Mobile and Omaha have taller skyscrapers than Phoenix. Is that not utterly pathetic for a U.S. city, especially one the size of Phoenix? I realize skyscrapers are not the sole means to measuring a city's worth, but there's still a shitpot of abandoned dirt lots clustered around our downtown. I go to San Diego or Denver (both smaller than Phoenix) and I come back here so depressed it's not even funny. I despair that Phoenix will ever have a real downtown...
METRO AREA....CITY POP..........METRO POP.........# OF SKYSCRAPERS OVER 400 FEET TALL
Denver.............600,000...........2.9 million..........16
San Diego........1.2 million........2.8 million..........13
Phoenix...........1.5 million........4.3 million..........2

Agreed. Phoenix is a city of mediocrity and value engineering with few exceptions.
